Hotel Astoria is an outstanding of Architectural Gem. It was built in 1935. It is a monument to functionalist style, though is always kept up to date. The hotel building is one of Denmark's finest funkisbuildings and today the building has been found worthy of preservation.

The hotel is centrally located in the heart of Copenhagen just 2 minutes walk from Tivoli gardens, the town hall square and adjacent to the central station. Its proximity to central station means that some noise and vibration may be felt in the hotel, but this is mostly confined to the ground floor where there are no guest rooms.

This smoke-free hotel was redesigned in 2007 by the Danish design company GUBI; the design team also created furniture for the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The modern hotel features custom furnishings, and black, white, and purple color schemes; the hotel's entrance features the first revolving doors in Denmark.
