Hotel Belvedere, with it's carefully preserved Art-Nouveau-Style, proofs of the epoche of the beginning of the past century when travelling has just become fashionable and the Swiss hotel industry was starting to develop. After beeing built in 1912, the hotel opened as Grand Hotel Belvédère and experienced with it's guests and staff the changing of good and bad times, fashion-styles, inventions and time-passing.

Because of it's privileged and risen position at the border of Wengen, the Hotel Belvédère does profit of a unique calmity and a magnificient view to the Jungfrau and the Lauterbrunnen-valley. The village with it's shopping possibilities, the train to Kleine Scheidegg / Jungfraujoch or Lauterbrunnen and the cablecar to Männlichen are within reach of a 5 minutes walk.

LOCATION

Hotel Belvedere is overlooking the Alps, situated 500 metres from the car-free resort centre from where a funicular train runs six kilometres to the Kleine Scheidegg ski lift.

"Heaven in Wengen"
We stayed at the Belvedere this year along with our friends as an alternative to the slightly miserable hotel we stayed in last year. The hotel is so charming and a mixture of Victoriana, Art Deco and Nouveau with a bit of Arts and Crafts thrown in for good measure. I would hate to see this place modernised or altered in any way. All the staff, without exeption were really professional and extremely friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Returning after a day out, and sitting in front of the fire in the lounge is really comforting, and we really looked forward to dinner in the evening. The food is excellent and varied, and never stops coming (5 courses for dinner). I think anyone who didn't enjoy their stay here would be very hard to please indeed, and if I return to Wengen I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. I would have no criticism at all and would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone. It is a very short walk to the station and ski lift, and the views are spectacular. This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in.

"What a great hotel...."
We stayed at the Belvedere after Kuoni changed our destination hotel at short notice.... we were a bit worried but shouldn't have been! The Belvedere was a lovely quirky place, with staff who couldn't do enough for you - a real change from the usual faceless hotel chains. we had a superior room with an exceptional view of some of the alpine peaks and very modern bathroom. The bedroom was old fashioned but comfortable and had a balcony. Afternoon tea and homemade cakes were complimentary and superb and the breakfast was brilliant with the freshest of bread and homemade jams. Evening meals in the restaurant were lacking in choice but great value for money at 25CHF per person, compared to eating out... Would highly recommend this place (and try for a south facing room - you won't regret it!). Well done all at the Belvedere (and Kuoni - a great choice!)

"Best views in the valley"
The Belvedere is exactly the thought i had of a Swiss Hotel. On the mountainside, A-frame structure, large entry wooden doors, spacious reception, rooms neat and tidy, quaint and purposeful. At the Belvedere spend the extra money for a south-facing room, the views throughout the day and night were amazing, and was nice to sit on the balcony and relax. The breakfast was more than adequate with a mix of cereals, breads and hot eats. We did not have dinner as preferred to eat in village, be sure to shop at the local supermarket before it closes at 6. The train station is 5 minute walk, the porter can transport you and your bags to and from, but this is unnecessary. Make sure you get to the Top of Europe!
