"Great hotel"
We (my fiance and I) visited Berlin for her birthday at the end of February. As we had a late flight (thank you Easyjet!) we took a taxi from Schonefeld airport to the hotel; it cost about 30 euros so not too expensive.
Check in was quick and easy; all the staff at check-in spoke excellent English and they were very efficient.
The room was quite spacious, as was the bathroom. The bed was quite strange however; we asked for a king size bed and we were given two large singles pushed together! Although, the top sheets were pulled over both beds so there wasn't any danger of falling through the gap in the night!! Also, rather than having one king size quilt we were given two single quilts. I found that strange, but it didn't affect either of us.
The bathroom had two excellent mirrors and the shower was decent; it was a shower in a bath though and I'm not a big fan of those but it's not a real problem or complaint.
The air conditioning is strange; well, it was hard to fathom and I ended up having to turn it off at night or else it was too hot to sleep!
My only real complaint of this hotel is the lack of toiletries in the bathroom; all you get is an all-in-one soap dispenser, which is not good enough for a 4* hotel in my opinion.
Restaurant Julius serves some excellent food and I think it was competitively priced. You expect hotels to be more expensive than outside restaurants but I didn't think this was the case. The bar also sells some excellent beer and again the price was not as expensive as I expected.
All in all though, an excellent hotel and I would stay here again.

"Absolutely okay"
A modern and well equipped hotel for tourists and business travelers. My group of 15 people stayed for 3 nights and we all found the hotel fully satisfactory. The rooms are spacious and the furniture and beds would suit most people. The bathroom is large and modern. The location is good and fairly central.
I would have liked the breakfast system to be different. Some rooms are booked including breakfast and some without. Our didn't have breakfast, so we had to buy it for 17 euro per person which I think is far too expensive. It is a bit like a hidden price raise. However no complaints about the breakfast itself.

Found this hotel to be of excellent quality. Location very good as it is only a few minutes from an underground station. Excellent breakfast and staff very helpful. Would recommend this hotel to friends and would stay again. Stayed in May 2007. |

"Very good value and nice stay"
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Berlin (Blue Band) the first week of October 2003. We booked it through an internet discounter, so the price was right. We found the hotel to be much nicer than we expected, however. The staff is young, English-speaking and helpful. It is like staying at a large but nice Holiday Inn or Marriott in Chicago or Cleveland, with conference rooms full of local businesspeople downstairs. The guest rooms upstairs are clean and comfortable. The breakfast is included and is like breakfast at a Shoney's or Denny's buffet. If you are looking for a traditional German hotel or something small and interesting, don't stay here. If you are looking for a well-located, American-style clean and friendly place, this is one of your best values in Berlin.

"Great value"
Hotel Berlin is a 4 star hotel situated on Lutzowplatz 17, 10785 Berlin. This is a fairly quiet and very safe area about 10 mins walk to the main shopping street, Kurfurstendamm, and big department store, KaDeWe, in what was West Berlin. There are bars & restaurants only 5 mins walk. The hotel is very large and the service and welcome you get is very efficient and friendly. We had booked a triple room which was huge, tastefully decorated and had opening windows as well as air con. The bed linen was white and crisp and towels were lovely and soft. The standard of cleanliness was very high and we felt the carpets were clean enough to walk on without slippers! The public areas of the hotel were also very clean and well decorated. The breakfast buffet was very substantial with a wide variety of cold meats, breads, cheeses, cererals etc etc as well has hot items such as eggs and bacon. A great standard of hotel and great value for money and we would have no hesitation staying there again.

"An Excellent Base!"
Having stayed at the Agon Opera last year for a short break - and failing to secure accommodation there for this trip - myself and four friends were forced to look elsewhere!
The Hotel Berlin came up as an option and after reviewing it on this site, I wondered from the oh-so-iffy reviews whether it was a good choice. I decided to take the chance and I'm really glad I did!
It is a HUGE hotel with over 660 rooms and isn't the place to stay if you like the personal touch. Staff are very polite but you're not likely to see the same face twice! However, if you're looking for a good clean convenient base for a trip to a beautiful city, it can't be beaten!! It is also used for large conferences and meetings and whilst we were there, a conference for a Spanish cosmetics firm was taking place. This means that the lobby can become very overcrowded as it's not as large as you would expect in a huge hotel.
Our opinion was an excellent hotel with convenient transport links for all Berlin has to offer! Thoroughly RECOMMENDED! In fact, I've booked it for another group of friends and myself for a weekend in December to visit the Christmas Markets!
