ABOMINABLE
We paid for a double room and received a room with two cheap, flimsy beds pushed together. The cup in the bathroom was filthy. The breakfast was standard bread rolls and spreads, but very expensive even by Swiss standards. Very disappointing considering the price. The Internet access was expensive, slow, and unreliable, and the computers were old and poorly maintained. To top it all off, after specifically requesting that my card be charged in Swiss Francs (as my card issuer does not charge for foreign transactions), the staff “helpfully” charged me in UK pounds, for a fee of course. When I said again that I wanted to pay in Swiss Francs, the receptionist assured me that it was simply showing me the amount in pounds so I knew how much it was. However upon studying the small print on my receipt after leaving, I saw that I had been charged as apparently “you have been offered the opportunity to pay in CHF but have chosen to pay in your own currency”. This was not a simple misunderstanding – the receptionist was a fluent English speaker and my girlfriend is fluent in French. I felt I was mislead and robbed. This hotel is certainly not the claimed 4 stars, but is a total rip-off. Don't stay – I would never come here again.

"Clean, Modern, Quiet, & Well-located"
This was our second stay at the Cornavin in Geneva in a year. It is clean, modern, quiet, & well-located across from the main train station Gare Cornavin. On both visits, our bright & basic rooms faced the train station, but we never heard any noise as the windows are double paned & block all sound from outside. The reception desk was helpful. We'd stay again in a heartbeat for the convenience alone. In July 2005, we paid $152 for a standard double including continental breakfast.

"Nice experience"
stayed at the Cornavin hotel for a week in July 2003. There are many nice things about the hotel. First of all, the price is very reasonable compared to the level of service. The rooms are spacious and if you got a room on the 7, 8 or 9th floor, you will get a room with a huge window and balcony giving you a nice view over the busy street and walking people around the railway station and you can also see the upper part of the lake fountain. The décor and furniture is new and stylish. Comfy beds and nice toilets.I plan to stay there in my next trip to Geneva.
