"Exellent hotel, well recommended" We stayed at the hotel de korenaer from the 17th of november 2004 - the 20th of november 2004, and them 3 nights in the hotel were excellant. The staff are very friendly and will help u with any problems you come across. The rooms are all modern decorated and very clean and cosy. our room was no. 27 which was a triple room and had a balcony with an extraudinry views of the damrak and right opposite 'Vans Beurs Berlage'. The hotel itself was situated in an excellant place it was just 2 minutes walk from central station, 3 minutes walk to the dam square, and about 1 minute walk into the famous red light districe. In the hotel price you get your breakfast included which was 7-10am and was fairly decent considerin you dont pay major ££££££ for the hotel, it was just cereal and continental stuff. The hotel also had a restaurant and served lovely food for a cheap price, and the hotel has 24 hour security so u come back to your room in the early hours of the mornin. Also the cleaner (Jamile) was a top notch guy, he used to come to our room and have a little joint with us and was very helpful and polite. So if anyone asked me if they shud stay in the hotel de korenaer i would say, yes deffinately, it was excellant valur for money, excellant service, excellant staff and in an excellant position. "Got to love the lift!" Well, what can I say. It was an experience. We should have payed attention when the lift said no more that 300kg as four people and their luggage managed to get us stuck in the lift for about 20 minutes! All in all though, it was good. There was 6 of us (between 20 and 23) and we did have a good time. Bathroom was spacious and the beds were comfy so we couldn't complain. We managed to break one bed during a wrestling match which they were cool about and we turned up most mornings at about 4-5 out of it and they were always helpful. The breakfast in the mornings was very basic but for about 10 euros you could get a full english and if you asked, normally they would give you free beer. The waiters were great help as they knew all the best spots to go and its right on the Damrak so it was about 2-4 minutes away from the RLD and about 5 minutes from Central station! Added with the fact that it was a cheap hotel to stay in and the restaurant downstairs giving 10% discount to people staying there, we would go back again! Remember though, its not the sort of hotel you stay in when ur planning to spend a lot of time in the hotel. A bed, bathroom, bar and beer. I give it an excellent, you get what you pay for!
