sue krylonsky This hotel is close to "les rambles" and the beach, with lots of bars and restaurants close by. We had an impressive view of the harbour from our room, which was cleaned every day, (however, my other two friends had a window view of what looked like a lift shaft). Breakfast served hot and cold food, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We would stay here again, and recommend this hotel to others.

"Great location, great hotel!" Have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Hotel Del Mar, which was far better than we had expected. The whole hotel interior was modern and clean and very smart. Our room looked out to the marina and was very comfortable (great beds and pillows!) and the bathroom was gorgeous. Location was prefect - 1 minute walk to train station where you can get train to the airport for 2.50euros. Its about 10 minute walk to Las Ramblas, plenty of nice restaurants in the area, 2 minutes walk to the Zoo, the park and the marina area. Picasso museum less than 10 minutes walk away too. Area felt safe at night, and wasnt too noisy (although there is double glazing). We booked through Last Minute who gave the best price at the time of booking. Hotel staff were very helpful and spoke good english - we asked them about trains and they immediately looked on the internet for us and printed off timetables for us. I will definately visit Barcelona again and stay here - there isnt a better location or hotel at this price in my opinion!

"Great hotel, great staff" I just came back yesterday from Barcelona and me and my boyfriend stayed at del Mar. I didn't know what to expect since there was a review that said the service is bad there. Well, we didn't have that impression, all the staff was very nice, they've always helped us when we needed any information whatsoever. Everything was very clean, breakfast was good, rooms are nice. So I would definitely recommend Hotel del Mar in Barcelona, it was a lovely stay!

"Perfect Location" Just wanted to say what a fab hotel this is. It is situated about 10 minutes walk from the sea front and 15 minutes walk from La Rambla,you could probably walk it quicker but it was very hot!! The room we had 313 wasn't great for views but as we only were there to wash and sleep that wasn't a problem. Hotel staff very helpfull and even found us some ice so we could chill our bubbly!!! Also as the hotel isn't right in on La Rambla it was very peaceful once you did want to go to sleep. Only downfall no fridge or hotel bar ,but Barcelona was open all hours .

"Fantastic" I booked a non-smoking room for 2 nights. I very much enjoyed my stay. The hotel's location is very convenient. It is about a three minute walk to the Barcelonetta metro stop and about the same to the Estacio Franca train station. Las Ramblas takes about 10-15 minutes to get to depending on which route you take. I was surprised at the size of the room because I expected something much smaller. But the room was very large. There was a petite foyer to close the room from the main door to the hallway. (See photos). The room was tastefully decorated and was incredibly comfortable. The doors to the balcony do have double paned glass so the street noise isn't as bad as it would be otherwise. I think the best feature of the hotel was its staff. The hotel staff was very friendly and and eager to help with any questions I had about the city. The front desk clerks were warm and always greeted me with a smile no matter the hour. I will most definitely stay at this hotel again and highly recommend it.

"good postion" Myself and five friends stayed here for one night pre cruise in May.This hotel is modern, very comfortable , very clean, very comfortable, reasonably pricedand in a very central position . The Bedrooms are of a good size and nicely decorated. The beds are comfortable and the pillows are the best vwe have ever laid our heads on.The breakfast was ok too. It is within close walking distance to port vell, beaches, the rambles and barcelonta. There are also many bars and resturants around this hotel to suit any taste or budget. We always take the train from and to the airport to barcelona. Franca station is just around the corner and 2 mins walk from this hotel ( we find this station easier to use than Barcelona sants station which is very busy and not centrally located as this). In the side street next to this( regina cristina )is a cava bar very cheap and some what of and experience!!!!Also within 5mins walk from this hotel on carrer de ginebra is a wonderful little tapas bar called Jai-ca. Its full of locals , the tapas are wonderful and also very reasonably priced. I would recommend this hotel, its ideal for any stay in Barcelona .

"It's great by the sea" Didn't know anything about this hotel before we go there, but we were very surprised at the quality for the price. There were three of us, and we got a suite with two balconies over looking the plaza. The room was well appointed with all brand new fixtures including large flat screen TV, the bathroom was superb. Breakfast was plenty even for three big lads. Can not think of a fault really, great location by the marina and restaurants and only 150m from the Metro, or Touristic open top bus service in the plaza. Definitely recommend this to anyone.

"Very Happy I Stayed" I was a little nervous booking a room, site unseen – but the price was too good to pass on. To my delight, the hotel was a gem. Located right next to the beautiful waterfront, the hotel is within walking distance to Las Rambles (10 min. walk), and the Gothic Section. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were brand new with flat TV (2 English channels), high ceilings and balcony. The bathroom was as large as my dinning room at home! If you enjoy a peaceful, scenic area – you will love this affordable hotel.

"Staff brilliant" I have just returned from a hen weekend in Barcelona. Before going, having visited this site and read some of the reviews, I was rather worried about staying at this hostel. However right from the moment of arrival, I was impressed with the helpfulness of the staff who couldn't have been more courteous and caring to the "lovely ladies". The premises were a bit shabby, but the ideal position, right by the marina, made up for this. After all most people are out all day and most of the night and just want somewhere to sleep - and the bed was comfortable. Well done Hostel del Mar!
