Reflects all the romance of Heidelberg...
Hotel Die Hirschgasse has attracted many tourists down the ages including Mark Twain who mentioned the Hirschgasse in his book. The picturesque Hirschgasse Hotel reflects all the romance of Heidelberg.
The most authentic hotel in Heidelberg guaranteeing the ultimate Heidelberg feeling. Since 1472 over 530 years of tradition as formerly the oldest student dueling house of Germany. Now 20 very private and luxuriously appointed suites by Laura Ashley. Big focus on wining and dining with two restaurants. The rustic Mensurstube with Student Prince museum and former guests like Mark Twain and also Count Otto von Bismarck. The award winning culinary flagship Le Gourmet tops any expectation of discerned guests. Historic location in a select residential area emphasizes the impression to actually live here.
The guest suites vary in colour, shape and size, all elegantly designed and luxuriously comfortable with showcase bathrooms. Heidelberg is best seen on foot. The views from the Philosopher's Walk or from the hotel's own vineyard nearby are truly exhilarating. |

It holds the highest ranking of all Heidelberg restaurants in the Restaurant Gourmet guides. "The Hirschgasse is a gem!"
Heidelberg is one of my favorite places to visit in Germany. Having been to several hotels and restaurants in the area for business and pleasure, there is nothing that compares to the Hirschgasse. The service and restaurants are by far the best of any I've experienced in the area. The location is ideal for sightseeing, and is found in one of the prettier areas of town...yet quiet enough to relax and be away from the tourists. I would highly recommend dining there. We dined at the more casual Mensurstube, which we found an absolute treat. The food, wine, and service were excellent. If you don't mind spending a little more, the Hirschgasse is the way to go when in Heidelberg!

"An Unforgettable Experience"
This hotel was built in 1472 and is filled with antiques and original artifacts from that period. The tables in the Mensurstube restaurant have carved names dating back to that time and records of duels fought there. The breakfasts were fabulous. The best dining experience we have ever experienced was in their more formal dining room.It truly was a 5 star meal.I will never forget it. Our room was quaint, large and cozy. The bed was great, as were the pillows and down comforter. It was VERY clean and neat and there were great terrycloth robes and slippers waiting for us. There was a mini bar and the only thing lacking was wi-fi. A wonderful experience and the staff was just lovely. Heidelberg is a fabulous city. Don't miss the castle!

"Quiet location, excellent for exploring"
This hotel is on the opposite side of the river to the old town of Heidelberg. Its location is excellent. The old town is a short walk away. The view from the hotel is towards the castle and the town itself. Behind the hotel is some fabulous walking tracks through the surrounding forest. The forest is magical and you can easily spend between an hour to a whole day walking through it.
The hotel is imbued with its fascinating history and as hotel guests you can feel this history throughout the hotel. There are two restaurants and both are fantastic. I spent 3 nights in the hotel and ate dinner in the hotel every night. The food was meticulously prepared. Presentation was lovely. The wine list outstanding. There was no reason to eat elsewhere.
The only downside to the hotel is it doesn’t have broadband internet access from the rooms or lobby.

"A Little Piece of Heaven"
We have just returned from a 3 night stay at what will henceforth be one of our favourite hotels in the world.
From the moment we arrived Frau Kraft gave us a very warm welcome, and the helpfulness and warmth of all of the staff continued thoughout our stay.
We had a lovely two bedroomed suite, with two bathrooms and a lovely sitting room which made it feel like a home from home. The food was outstanding, and the history attaching to the hotel makes it the kind of place that you want to tell your friends about (a bit of boasting). To cap it all, it is perfectly situated just over the river from the town centre (less than 10 minutes walk), and Heidelberg, the Neckar Valley and nearby Odenwald are perfect examples of the true, beautiful, country Germany.
