"Beautiful city, nice hotel"
Stayed at the Donatello on the 17th and 18th Feb. Its a decent 3 star hotel, plain and simple. The really high ceilings make the rooms feel huge. The bed is comfy, flat screen TV, reasonably priced minibar and relatively quiet (Just make sure you ask for a room at the top of the hotel, some traffic noise otherwise) It's about a 10 minute walk into the centre of the city, so not too bad at all.
Florence is not a particularly cheap city, so make sure you bring plenty of spending money. Many of the restaurants bolt on so many additional charges on top of the food, it can end up as nearly double what you expected. On more than one occasion we were short changed in restaurants, so to avoid any conflict, give them the right money. I've never been anywhere where coffee varies so much in price! The cheapest was in the square outside the spirito de santo where it was 0.7 euros (make sure you sit inside, it is 1/3 of the price!) and the most expensive was 6 euros (around the ponte de vechio)!
I proposed to my girlfried at sunset in Piazzale Michealangelo, so if you are going with your partner its worth the trip up on the bus (v. romantic!).
Make sure you do the Pitti Palace and boboli gardens above anything else, they are beautiful.
Stay at the donatello if you want a quiet, comfortable, no frills base for seeing this beautiful city!

"Good Value"
Hotel was next to Piazza Indipendenza and only walking distance from Florence (Firenze) Santa Novella train Sta.There are lots of shops, cafe and restaurant nearbly. It was pretty close to Accademia. Florence was easy to access on foot. The room was decorated in style (I beleive it was Florence style- green color for bed cover and curtain). Front desk staff could speak English well. I will definitely stay in this hotel for my next trip to Florence.

"Nice Place to Stay"
We were very pleased with Comfort hotel Donatello. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were very clean, and the hotel is in a great location. It's within walking distance to all of the main attractions. The breakfast is pretty basic, but if you don't like it, there are many cafes close by. I would definetly stay here again.
