"Great Value Hotel"
Just got back from a 5 day stay and cannot rate this Hotel or recommend it highly enough for value. (We paid about £140 per person for a double and a single room, 4 nights, inc flights with Stelios)
From the moment we landed and found the taxi we had booked with the hotel waiting for us (I had only booked it the afternoon before we went by sending them an email) to the moment we left it was smooth going all the way.
We found the staff to be smart, polite and all spoke pretty good English (why DO we expect everyone to speak OUR language, even when we are the visitors to THEIR country??!!)
This is a huge hotel, and yes they do have a lot of school parties staying but it wasnt a problem (Ask to stay in Tower B as it is very quiet - the school parties being in Tower A)
The bedrooms were clean, roomy and comfortable and cleaned each day.
The bar was massive and although they did allow the school parties in, they did not seem to be allowed in the part towards the back which left it reasonably quiet (we did actually see a formidable blonde Czech barmaid move some Italian school kids on a couple of times - I wouldnt have argued with her either!)
There's also 3 or 4 different restaurants to choose from.
I can confirm that the breakfast is outstanding, with everything you could possibly ask for (cereals, fruit, meat and cheeses, full cooked breakfast etc). Make sure you dont miss it, and fill yourself up!
The hotel IS a little out of town, but we caught the free hotel minibus to the nearby Ladvi Metro at 8.30 each morning and were in the centre of Prague by 9.00. We also never had more than a fifteen minute wait on our return to Ladvi Metro for the minibus back to the hotel.
Prague itself is everything you expect of it, especially with blue skies and not a cloud in sight all week! (How lucky we were!!). Make sure you take it all in and dont miss a thing.
We found a very nice little eaterie on the hill up to the castle called U Certa (the eaterie not the hill!) (2nd or 3rd place on the right going up the hill after St Nicholas Church) which I would highly recommend. We had 3 of the 3 course specials painted on the door (different each day) and drinks for less than 20 quid total. Bargain!
So there you go. If you're looking for a great value for money hotel with plenty of ameneties (Never had time to try the swimming pool, bowling alley, casino etc) and dont mind being away from the centre of town, this is your place.
Enjoy

"Lovely city and fab hotel"
I stayed in the Hotel Duo in Prague for 4 days this month. We got a transfer from the airport provided by a hotel taxi. We decided to upgrade to a suite which was lovely in Tower A. The only downfall was all of the students! Who to be fair on them, we didn't really hear them much even at night but there were loads of them! The staff at the hotel were lovely and really helpful.
There was a hotel shuttle bus to the nearest tube station, which is Ladvi. We bought a 3 day ticket for the underground, and as there are only 3 lines it is easy to get around.
Prague is a lovely city with lots to see, we bought a 2 day admission ticket for the castle and it took us the majority of that time to see everything it had to offer. My boyfriend was not impressed when I made him go and see the Barbie exhibition though! St Vitus's Cathedral took my breath away.
If you can try and get off the main streets and look around the back streets things (as with most cities) tend to be a lot cheaper. We bought two Beers in one place for 58CZK which is approximately 1.50gbp whereas other places it was about 4.00gbp.
I love Prague as a city the atomsphere is amazing especially if you walk along the Charles Bridge first thing in the morning, but I don't think I would go back just yet, as there is so much of the world I have yet to see.

"Hotel Duo was great!"
Just returned from two nights at the Hotel Duo. It was our first visit to Prague, but hopefully not our last. Yes - the hotel is some distance away from the city centre, but transport was so good & cheap it didn't matter. The shuttle bus was useful, but we often walked to or from the metro station - I'm no great walker but we did it in 15 minutes, and you get to have a good look at the area while you're walking. We felt quite safe, even at night and it was good to see how the locals live. There were families and young people around as well as older people.
We found the Czech people in general, and the hotel staff in particular, to be courteous and helpful. If the staff appeared at all "surly" it was probably because they didn't fully understand - they know enough English to get by, but not enough to engage in conversation. They were always polite and efficient. We booked half-board, which meant that we were given a separate menu in the restaurant and paid only for drinks. The menu was four courses, and we never managed to eat all four. Breakfast was self-service and had something to everyone's taste. Coffee was provided on the tables in thermos flasks, but if you preferred tea you could make your own at the breakfast bar.
Coaches came and went, but didn't cause any disruption. Breakfast for individual guests was served in a separate dining room from the coach parties.
The room was excellent - clean, & spacious with the most enormous bed! The bathroom was clean, the shower hot, and the towels beautifully white, soft and fluffy.
Prague is the most beautiful city and we were struck by how clean and tidy it is. We never saw any litter anywhere and the metro was immaculate -in stark contrast to the metro in London or Rome! I would recommend comfortable footwear to cope with the cobbled streets and the amount of walking you will do!
A night time walk through the Old Town is a must to take in the atmosphere in the old square and on the Charles Bridge. I can slso recommend the hot mulled wine which you can buy for 35 ck in the Old Town square.
We had a wonderful time in Prague and found the Hotel Duo to suit our needs perfectly. I would recommend it to anyone.

"fantastic value"
We really enjoyed aour 4 night break. The hotel is in a run down area of prague. It is very easy to get to prague city centre. Free mini bus to ladvi metro station and then 6 stops to prague. The hotel staff were efficient and mostly pleasant. The room was nice with everything you need. The breakfast was nice with everything you could want, although it did get busy. We really loved prague and if we stayed again and did not want to spend much we would definately stay at the. duo again. If we wanted to pay more we would stay near to charles bridge. Check out the restaurants across the bridge they were really nice and good value. |

"Good Fun"
We arrived by a very dodgy taxi driver at the train station so BE VERY CAREFUL. Other than that hiccup we had a wonderful time here. It WAS during July when temps were hitting 38 degrees Celsius and they didnt have air conditioning but we wont complain about that.
The breakfast was AWESOME, they cook it there on the spot at your request as well as having an array of choices for buffet. They had a casino, a gym, swimming pool, a bowling alley and a good souvenir shop. They have internet access and a beer garden. The place is VERY well equipped for the price you pay.
The hotel is a huge complex!!! Staff are all very helpful |

This hotel has something for everyone
I have stayed in this hotel, it is certainly very busy,
but has an exciting atmosphere. The multilingual staff are mannered and eager to please. The facilities are excellent. There is a bus that takes you to thetrain station, sightseeing is cheap and easy.
The service and cuisine in this hotel is excellent, I highly reccomend this hotel to any visitor to this lovely historical city |

Hotel Duo
We have just stayed at the duo taxi from airport 700kc hotel excellent standard breakfast had good selection hot & cold staff friendly and helpful shuttle bus from hotel to metro every 15-20 mins took about 5 mins travelling on trams and buses easy to use better to get a 3 or 7 day pass as it covers all transport you get it from information centre at airport. Restaurants down side streets are a lot cheaper the food in the hotel was excellent a few to choose from. Across the road from hotel you get a free bus to tesco which has a big shopping mall only takes about 10 mins |

"pleasant stay"
My husband and i have just returned from a two night stay at the hotel duo after celebrating our first wedding anniversary.
We were picked up from the airport as arranged through the hotel as they operate a taxi service , cost £600CK (AROUND £15)
The hotel was ok , of basic standard, the rooms were clean enough but the beds were very hard (woke up with a terrible backache).
The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. The hotel was further out than expected so if i visit next time i will find something more central.
In general we had a pleasant stay at the duo and the city of prague was beautiful, magnificent scenery & culture. Well worth a visit

"good value hotel"
Wife and I have just returned after three night stay at Duo..After having read some adverse reviews we were pleasantly surprised at what we found. On arrival we were warmly greeted by friendly reception staff. Our room was as shown on web photos and was spotlessly clean with all facilities there and working. O.K.the views were of blocks of flats, but remember this hotel is situated in an urban area of a large city and with an excellent free shuttle to the nearby metro that was all that was needed. You dont spend all of your break in a hotel room. The metro is about five mins via shuttle bus and will take you into the centre of Prague in about 20 mins. The large and comfortable lounge had a buzz about it and it was relaxing to sit there and watch the world go by. The bar staff were cheerful and efficient and the drinks prices were very fair. The inclusive buffet breakfasts were excellent with a large variety of hot and cold food. For an evening meal we would suggest the Gourmet restaraunt where the meals were of good quality and reasonably priced. Smokers have not yet been turned into lepers with smoking and non smoking areas available. We both look forward to a return trip the hotel which we think is good value for money.

i stayed at the 4 star duo on the 29 august till 1 september 2005i found the hotel clean and tidy most of the staff were very pleasant the buffet breakfast was very good there were many choices they ran a minibus service to and from ladvi metro but this stopped at 20.30 i felt it could have run till about 23.00 and this would be better for the tourists as for the metro i found it ok but i never travelled back any later than 21.30 as i had to get a bus back to the hotel bus no 187 177 156 as this is a new town there are few eatting places and pubs in the area tesco opened a big shopping centre and run a free bus outside the hotel for most of the day bus no 0 finally you will have to pay if you want a safety deposit box 150 czk per day and there was no air conditioning in my room 217 so in the summer beware |
