A lovely place with spectacular decor and a lively atmosphere...
The idea of building the 3 star Hotel Erzsebet in the heart of the city came up in 1867 at first, when new multi-storied palaces and boulevards began to be built in the place of small, old houses and narrow overcrowded streets. Hotel Erzsébet was opened in 1873, the year when Budapest, Hungary's capital was born by the union of three small villages: Pest, Buda and Óbuda (Old Buda). The small hotel was named with her permission after Sissi, Queen Elizabeth (Erzsébet), the wife of Emperor Francis Joseph, ruling the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy at that time.
The age-worn house was closed in 1976, and it was even pulled down, and the modern three-star Hotel Erzsébet was opened in the summer of 1985 in its place. Since then the hotel has been renovated several times, and today Hotel Erzsébet preserves only its excellent traditions from the more than 100-year-old past.
As a result of recent reconstruction works finished in 2002, Hotel Erzsébet offers freshly refurbished and stylish air-conditioned rooms. |

"Excellent location, pleasant staff"
This hotel is ideally situated. It is walking distance to the metro station and the pedestrian streets with all the shops and restaurants.
The room is somewhat small, but it is air conditioned.
The staff takes a while to warm up, but they eventually do.
There is wifi for a charge available in the room, but not through the hotel. It is a private firm. I used it and found it to be very good.

"Good hotel in good ocation"
Hotel was reasonably priced and in a good location - within easy walking distance of city centre, market, Erzsebet Bridge, and pedestrianised tourist area.
Situated in a busy street, it can be noisy at the front, but by closing the windows, it minimised the noise considerably.
For a 3+ star oversees hotel, it definitely is above average. Comfortable room and bed and all normal facilities (except tea and coffee in rooms).
Continental breakfast with good range of food - even had two hot choices.
Staff in reception very helpful and pleasant - really enjoyed staying there.

"Old world Hotel"
The Hotel Erzsebet was not far from the Erzsebet bridge over the Danube, and a short walk to the metro station. Budapest metro makes it easy to get around, so the Erzsebet's location was quite convenient. Buffet breakfast had plenty of variety, but the food was a bit underwhelming for my palate.

This Hotel was great, Especially one of the staff
Arrived on the 29th December 2006 for 4 days at this hotel. The location was ideal and the rooms were warm and cosy. The breakfasts were good and we all enjoyed our stay there. We found the staff very helpful especially Eva who worked at the reception. We had incurred a problem with a corrupt official on the Metro who had fined us, for ticket infringements. When we mentioned this to Eva She said she would investigate it for us. This she did and a few hours later a representaive from the Metro arrived at the Hotel and reimburssed us with our money. This was all due to Eva's efforts which was much appreciated. This hotel is superb and I would recommend it to anyone |

"Good hotel"
Really good location, the rooms were clean and bigger than I expected. Nice shower! Breakfast was good, and the location is fantastic. If you are going to Budapest for the spa baths then go to Szechenyi in the park. They are amazing.
