Has seen better times
The ladies at the reception didn't seem to be very professional, they didn't find our booking had a discussion which room we should get etc. Beside the actual renovation activities at the lobby and outside only the bathroom has seen a renovation within the last 3-5 years. The heating system at our room didn't work and we got a electrical heater. Not what I expect at a 5 star hotel. The room was pretty large. The breakfast was good and the people at the restaurant very, very riendly.

Europe as it used to be
The Hotel Europa in Innsbruck is a step back into the past. If you are looking for a hotel where Captain and Maria von Trapp would have stayed on their honeymoon, or one like the luxury European hotels featured in the black and white movies – this is it. Old world charm, maids in starched uniforms, the proprietor in the lobby and a bar with Austrian music…and that is just in the first thirty seconds after your entrance. At the same time it is steps away from the modern train station and there is wireless in all the rooms. Rooms are decorated in Tyrolean style and the breakfast buffet features a variety and amount that assumes the guests are going to engage in mountain climbing between shopping and museum visits. The hotel is a ten minute stroll to the Old Town. Prices for Tyrolean clothing were lower and of better quality in the hotel area than in the main shopping district. Tiroler Heimatwerk, which features authentic handcrafted Tyrolean items, is on the way to the Old Town and worth a stop. For those looking for picnic items, there is a grocery store on the bottom floor of the train station. Service at the hotel is impeccable with a knowledgeable staff that is fluent in English. Britain’s Queen Elizabeth visited here and you get the feeling that the proprietor will treat you the same way. At the same time, the hotel can be a bargain. The price of my room was comparable to the chain hotels in Innsbruck, and the hotel’s website http://www.europatyrol.com also offers packages. "had a good stay here"
I had a very nice overnight stay here in September of 04. The room was old world elegent and the bathroom was all marble and very nice. The other guests seemed mostly older and were most likely business travellers. As my business was in the old town, I chose a hotel closer to that district next time I went, but overall, this hotel was acceptable.
