"Comfortable and central"
Villa de la Reina is a refurbished hotel on Gran Via, very centrally located. The rooms tend to be on the smallish size, but ours was compensated by a nice and large bathroom. We had a room facing the street and were surprised by the excellent insulation from the noise below. Interior rooms may feel a bit dark and stuffy, but that is my guess. The rooms decor is modern although the building has the patina and charm of past eras. Altogether it is an elegant hotel in a minor key. Access to the rooms of this tall and narrow building is through two elevators: one modern and one early 20th century--rather charming. There is free access to two internet stations. Breakfast and other eating facilities are available but were not included in the price of accommodation. Staff wa courteous and friendly. This is a reasonably priced place ; its main virtue is its location.

"Lovely Hotel"
The H10 Villa De La Reina, is a lovely classy hotel in a great central location. It is easy walking distance to all major shopping areas and Historical sites, in fact it is easy to access the whole of central Madrid on foot.
Upon arrival we were checked in quickly by very friendly and helpful staff and shown to our room. We passed the lobby bar which was spacious and inviting.
Our room was impressive, average size with a large fully equipped bathroom, you have the option to order room service if required and there is a mini bar which i thought was quite reasonable (well about as reasonable as you get in a hotel mini bar!).
My one slight niggle with this hotel is that it is noisy during the night. I requested a quiet room facing away from the Gran Via (on the advice of previous reviews) which we got and we were situated on the third floor and yet it was still incredibly noisy with beeping horns, people shouting and bin men shouting at each other and banging very loudly in the early hours.
Like i say this is my only little issue with an otherwise excellent hotel. i couldnt fault the service and wouldnt hesitate to recommend it.

"Great price for a Madrid gem"
I booked my stay through venere.com, an excellent Italian site that does not oblige one to pre-pay.
This was my fifth stay at this four-star property, and my most recent stay was as gratifying as my first one.
The hotel is ideally located just north of the intersection of Calle Alcalá and Gran Vía, making it easy to walk to the museums (Prado and Thyssen-Bornemisza), to the old city beyond the Purta del Sol, the high-end shopping on Serrano in Salamanca, and the restaurant scene in the Chueca.
The property has been thoroughly refurbished with all modern amenities. Both guest rooms and bathrooms are spacious and well-equipped. For those who do not wish to avail themselves of the free wireless access in guest rooms, there are two free computer terminals with broadband access and laser printers in the hotel lobby.
Breakfast is excellent and my only request here would be to open the lobby bar a little earlier than 9am so that one could have a cup of coffee if one is not a breakfast person.
The staff is courteous and gracious.
