  Hotel Information

Understated opulence and design in business zone...

Hotel Hesperia Madrid, opened in 2001, this stylish hotel is in the business and diplomatic district on grand Paseo de la Castellana, adjacent to Plaza de España and two km from the Royal Palace.

Interior decorator Pascua Ortega (designer of Madrid’s Royal Theater) has created a minimalist setting of natural fabrics (wood and leather) and neutral colors enlivened with bronze and gold. This, together with efficient but friendly service from the young staff (auditioned with help from a local theater director) draws successful business people, footballers, stars, and the trendy set.

LOCATION

Hotel Hesperia Madrid is located on famous Paseo de la Castellana, with Madrid's finest boutiques on its doorstep.

PROPERTY AMENITIES

* Santceloni restaurant:
The Catalan cuisine of chef and restauranteur Santi Santamaria is served at this one Michelin starred restaurant, situated on the lower ground floor with street access. Slightly departing from the neutral tones of the hotel’s public spaces, interior decorator Pascua Ortega has injected rich green banquets into the neutral mix, and chequered marble in black and white lining some of the walls.

* La Manzana:
Buffet breakfast and modern Mediterranean cuisine for lunch and dinner is served in this informal restaurant, overlooking the central atrium lounge, with seating for around 50 diners. Paella with vegetables or lobster is a favorite. Vegetarian and low calorie dishes are available. The decor – neutral tones lifted with beige and gold - draws on the restaurant’s inspiration. La Manzana is named after the Spanish word for the golden apple which Hercules searched for in The Gardens of Hesperides.

* Scotch Bar:
Dark burnished wood, soft beige suede banquettes and the glinting bottles of the well stocked bar create a gentleman’s club atmosphere. Although brandies and cocktails, snacks, and cigars are available, the main attraction is the whisky. There are over 70 varieties on offer. Open all day, there is live piano music in the evenings.

* Lucernario:
Light pours in through the glass roof of this intimate area, decorated in the style of a Spanish garden, with lemon trees and a central sculpture. Breakfast, light lunch, and afternoon teas (including Jasmine, Earl Grey, and Redberries) are served here.

* Lobby Lounge Bar:
Guests can find a seat on the nut-colored sofas or wicker chairs to enjoy snacks and drinks.

* The business center on the first floor is equipped with fax, photocopier, scanner, and four computers with high-speed Internet access. Wireless internet access is available in the lobby and meeting rooms. Each of the three meeting rooms on the lower ground floor - Tapies, Saura, and Chillida - can be split in half and fitted with audio-visual equipment. The biggest, Tapies, can host 550 cocktail-style (280 in theater set-up). Temporary art exhibitions are displayed in the meeting room corridors.

ROOM AMENITIES

* This hotel has 171 guestrooms, all of which have complimentary wireless Internet access, voice mail, and air conditioning. Guests are welcomed by fresh fruit and flowers in their rooms – lilies or orchids in the bedroom; a rose in the bathroom. True to the minimalist design of the hotel’s interior, whatever the flower, its color is white.

* Some rooms have views over the main street, others overlook courtyards. The marble bathrooms are fitted with a magnifying mirror, Bulgari toiletries, and a sponge. Guests can choose a pillow from the pillow menu, ranging from very soft to hypo-allergenic latex and goose feathers, and turndown service, when chocolates and the next day’s weather forecast are placed on the bed. Two rooms are designed with easy access for disabled people.

"Lovely Hotel & Location"
Lovely hotel with modern decor. The location is perfect. Its in the more quiter neighbourhood of madrid but with easy access to the rest of the city and airport. Metro is 50m from the hotel. attentive and helpful staff. bulgari amenities and fresh fruit on arrival with godiva chocolates with turn down service gave it a nice and wonderful touch. only complaint is that they had messed up my bill. would stay again.

"Good hotel, Santceloni restaurant outstanding"
I stayed 6 nights at the Hesperia Hotel, two alone for business and four with my wife for sightseeing. It was very convenient for both business and pleasure, excellent quiet room, elegant bathroom, friendly and helpful staff, everything clean. In-room WIFI did not work at first but was fixed at some point, I was allowed to use business centre for free meanwhile. Location is good (very near Metro) but not outstanding, since there are few of the major sights just nearby. The real gem is the downstaïrs restarurant, the Santceloni, where we had a truly magnificent dining experience. Not to be confused with the actual (lobby) hotel restaurant, which we did not try, except for one (overpriced) breakfast. Circled the hotel to find a cheap local breakfast cafe around, but did not find any! Overall very happy with the suggestion from the travel agent to stay here. Would I recommend it? Definately. Would I stay again? Probably not, I guess am more adventurous, and now I know where to go for excellent dining...

"Romantic Hesperia"
We booked for our anniversary. From the moment we stepped into the hotel it was luxurious and modern. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to please us. We were escourted to our room which was a fair size. A platter of fresh fruit and little cakes awaited us - it wasn't a big bowl but enough for two. The towels and bathrobes were very soft, the hairdryer was a proper size and worked well. The toiletries were replaced everyday. There were even complimentary comb, toothbrush, shaver etc. Bvlgari products an extra bonus. We fillled out our pillow menu and submitted it to reception before we went our. When we returned at night they turned down the beds and left Godiva chocolates. There was also half a bottle of Moet and Strawberries in the room because of our anniversary. We had a lovely Lobster Paella in the hotel restaurant - which was very good €29 per person. Cocktails were good at the bar €12 - 15. Prices are a bit steep but it is 5star! The breakfast was amazing and you could help yourself to the Moet at the juice section of the restaurant. Included in the breakfast was a menu which you could order as many items or nothing at all. The reason I booked this hotel was because it was away from the touristy areas of the city and Serrano was very very close - designer shops amazing. The metro is very efficient we used it all the time - no cabs at all. It was handy from the airport too with one change and it was merely 1 minute walk from the hotel. Overall this is a really wonderful hotel the only fault I have is that the TV should have been more centrally located and modernised but I will definitely go back for the luxury and walking distance to Serrano. If you book this hotel try and get a deal which includes breakfast we paid £94 included breakfast for 2 per night other wise you end up paying €27 Euros. Amazing place definity will go back here.

"5-Star for European Standards"
This hotel exceeded my expectations. Stayed on two seperate ocassions for a total of 8 nights. For business, it is ideally located in the Paseo de las Castellana. If you are travelling for tourism, you are not too far either, since Madrid's center is ver compact. This is one of the safest districts to stay in Madrid, as the Gran Via and Plaza de Espana areas are plagued with pick-pocketers and prostitution. Rooms are brand-spanking new and funcitonal, although like in most Madrid hotels, don't come here looking for a view, since most rooms face a courtyard that is not much to speak about. Bulgari toiletries provided, and the service is very good (room service, valets, housekeeping, concierge), as the hotel is one of the Leading Hotels of the World group, an association which has rigorous standards as far as service. The lobby is impressive for a Madrid hotel, yet the traffic flow in and out of the hotel is like that of a boutique hotel. Restaurant is overpriced and not great, but there are plenty of good restaurants and cafes in the area. I would venture to say that this is the best hotel in Madrid and probably will be for a couple of years.

"Wonderful"
I booked this trip as an anniversary present for my husband (it incorporated watching Real Madrid play football). The hotel was very modern, very upper class without being snotty, very clean and the service was beyond our expectations. Everybody was so helpful and polite. We got a complementry bottle of champagne and stawberrys with melted chocolate on arrival for our anniversary which was also a nice touch. We have stayed in a lot of nice hotels (Waldorf Astoria in New York) and the Hesperia was as good if not better because of the great service. Every night the bed would be turned down with a Godvia chocolate on the pillar and a forecast of the next day's weather. We had fresh fruit and flowers in our room every day and the luxury Bvlgari toileteries were replaced every night. We had breakfast in the La Manzana restaurant which was also very nice and a member of the hotel staff booked us a table at Santceloni (which is hard to get into) which was outstanding. The area is a little far out (but quite close to Madrid's answer to Bond Street, London) but it is worth the extra walk to stay at such a perfect hotel. There is a metro train station located just outside which is also very good and quick. The room was not overly big but very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was on the larger side and the shower was great. I am a very fussy person and this exceeded my expectations in more ways that one. I would also recommend booking to see Real Madrid play football and go on a tour of the stadium as this completed our wonderful weekend in Madrid.

"Nice, Centrally located"
Nothing fancy, but perfectly nice. The room was adequate size, the bath was spacious and clean. The shutters and windows provided a very quiet nights sleep. Excellent location, minutes from Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and Palacio Real, just off the Grand Via. When we had a problem with the TV, they replaced it within minutes, when asked for extra pillows, they brought them up that night, no complains about the service. Front desk staff spoke sufficient english as our spanish was nonexistent and we could not ask for more at this price (averaged about 75eur/ night).
