"Great little hotel"
This hotel is located very conveniently for the main train station in Melbourne and is generally a useful location (if a little seedy in parts). The staff were very helpful and the rooms seemed to have been modernised recently although the bathroom was a bit tired. Huge bed and plenty of room. I wouldn't bother with the breakfast though as there are plenty of good cafes nearby. Overall a bargain stay which gave us a great start to our holiday in Australia.

"Convenient and clean"
The first night we arrived we were a little concerned that we may be in a bad part of town but that turned out to be a false impression. We took the Sunbus from the airport to the central station where another bus will take you to your hotel. This hotel was an easy two block walk from bus to hotel doorstep so we hoofed it. This was very convenient. It is not too far from most attractions or from a tram where one can easily get to where they need to go. The greek restaraunt just down the street has excellent food at a great price. The room was clean and roomy enough for two. The front desk personnel were very helpful and they made sure we knew where to buy the best chocolates and get good advice on opals. They also booked our tours for us. The tours picked up right outside the hotel. We were very satisfied with the room. The buffet breakfast was delicious and gave us a good start on the day. There is also an exercise room on the top floor which we used. We would stay here again.

"Convenient, Clean and Affordable"
We were a little hesitant to book at the Hotel Ibis Little Bourke due to a bad experience we had several years ago at another Ibis property in Australia. But from the tripadvisor.com rating, and the other comments about this hotel, we decided to risk it. Very glad we did. The Hotel Ibis Little Bourke suited our needs perfectly. The property is only one block from the main train station (Southern Cross) which makes it very convenient if you arrive on the Airport Shuttle, like we did. Less than a 4 minute walk and you are there! Don't be put off by the neighbourhood. While the Hotel is situated down a slightly dodgy little street, we had no problems at all while we were there, and we often returned late at night. The staff were all friendly and accommodating to our requests. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. The room we were given was very clean and well laid out. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. Not sure if this property has been refurbished lately - but it certainly appears that way as we noticed very few signs of aging or wear and tear. Would happily stay at this hotel again.
