"Decent Place"
Booked a room the morning of our stay on bookings[--] for 89 euro. The night before we stopped in the lobby and were given a rate of 150 euro which we declined, so I guess it pays to shop around or try last minute bookings.
A fairly short walk from the train center, even with heavy backpacks, and a moderate walk to the old town. Hotel stored our packs while we walked the city during the day before we checked in.
Room was adequate and quite clean. Staff at front desk was friendly. No phones in room, but they gave us a mobile phone to use in our room. Breakfast was quite adequate. Hot weather during our stay made for uncomfortable sleeping, and a fan would have been nice to have in the room.
We took a train to Berchtesgaden Germany on this trip, and had a terrific time taking the 5km hike each way to the Konigsee. Highly recomend this trip and walk on a gorgeous trail through the forest. Also, take the time while in Salzburg to visit the Augustiner Brewery and spend some time in the beergarden under the chestnut trees.

"Nice Surprise"
We just returned from visiting Germany and Austria and were pleasantly surprised by the nice accomodations at the Marcus Sitticus. Salzburg was at the end of our two week vacation and we were pleased to find such a nice clean hotel for a reasonable price. We had stayed in Salzburg five years ago and our pension was nowhere near as nice as this hotel. It was convenient to the train station and a bit longer walk to the Old Town. The neighborhood has some big name pricier hotels like the Crown Plaza and Sheraton. The decor of the room was very attractive, and the free internet was a plus since we were e-mailing our family each day. There was also a nice biergarten restaurant a block from the hotel. Of the seven hotels we stayed in during our trip this ranks near the top.

"Great Hotel and location for sightseeing"
We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in September. The hotel is clean and the staff very helpful. ( As a Travel Agent I look for things that other people do not). I rate this hotel very highly for several things among them being location, charming staff and good breakfast. There is free internet in the main meeting room. Very easy walk into the old part of Salzburg. Only about 2 blocks from where the daily tour buses depart - although they do pick up at the hotel.

"Ten of us stayed and ten would stay again!"
The degree and interest the staff took to ensure that my family of ten, ranging in ages from nine to eighty impressed me and touched me. I appreciated their diligence in organizing and informing me of tours and sights or dinner schedules. We stayed over Christmas holiday and thanks to emails from the staff were able to reserve dinners and concerts for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as well as organized for us all to go to mass late on Christmas Eve. The warm and inviting atmosphere or abundance of cookies and Christmas candies kept us in the lounge or at ease for brakfast, family style regardless of our demands. The breakfast china and choices were memorable. On Christmas we were touched by the gifts we received on our pillows by the housekeeping crew of delightful Mozart music and trinkets. I have never been away from my home at this time of year. The Markus Sittikus was well worth the price.

"highly recommended"
A highly recommended hotel. You can book tours and concerts at the 24hr reception. The room is nice, the only downside is that it doesn't have aircon. Breakfast was also delicious.

"Wonderful hotel"
We had a lovely 3-night stay at this hotel and loved it. It has a nice atmosphere, feels light and airy, the staff are very friendly and helpful, good breakfasts, and great art! We stayed in the Sound of Music room, which is actually a lot more tasteful than its name suggests. Great pictures on the stairway walls too. I wanted to write this review in large part to counter the negative reviews of the hotel on this site, as I feel they are unjustified. Our room was spacious enough, and if that is still too small for some people, I wonder what they need in a hotel room when Salzburg beckons them out every day. The hotel is only a few minutes' walk from the Mirabell Gardens, and from the starting point for many organised tours. It is barely 10 minutes from the northern edge of the city centre. We walked back from the far end of the old city, tired and therefore going slowly, in 25 mins. Buses from the end of the road take just a few minutes to the old city, and I guess taxis are another option. And we paid an amazing price for such a lovely hotel - just UK£150 for three nights, via a UK hotel booking firm called Hotel Connect.
