"Small Rooms, very clean, excellent breakfast and great location"
I stayed in this hotel in May 2006.
The hotel is big, but it was very quiet so it didn't bother us.
The room is pretty small but OK for 2 people and
it was very clean. The breakfast was excellent with big variety and it was all hot and fresh.
The hotel has an excellent location - it has metro station near the entrance, it is 5 min. walk from the market and national history museum, and 10-15 min. walk from main street/city center.
We really enjoyed the stay there, the only minus was the room size but since most of the day we spent outside, it did not bother us so much.

"An excellent choice"
I stayed in this hotel with a group of 37 undergraduate students I was leading through Central Europe. The hotel was an excellent choice in every way--clean, modern, helpful staff, conveniently located, pleasant rooms. It is easy walking distance from Vaci utca and the river, just across the Elizabeth Bridge from the Gellert Hotel spa (don't miss the chance to take the waters there!), and two blocks from the huge indoor market at the end of Vaci utca. If quaint or character is what you are looking for, look elsewhere. If a modern hotel with a high standard of service is your desire, this is a good one. Don't eat in the restaurants, though, as they are very overpriced. Many better and lower priced options are nearby--none of them on Vaci utca, where tourists get taken to the cleaners for mediocre food.

"Superb hotel"
The hotel is very nice, clean and modern with friendly/helpful staff. Although on a main road, it has extremely good soundproofing and no noise can be heard. Our room was very modern with a large double bed, desk, chair and TV. The bathroom had a lovely shower and was kept extremely clean by the cleaners. The room was very cosy with soft lighting and nicely heated. There was one small wardrobe and 6 sets of shelves - plenty of space for a short trip. A free number-coded safe was also located in the wardrobe. 24 hour room service was available and the service was very good. The bar & restaurant overlook the street which makes interesting viewing. It's in a great location for getting around. The Metro line and trams run from outside the hotel (2 stops away from the meeting point of all 3 Metro lines). The Danube is only a 10 min walk, where you can catch a tram to the Castle Hill District & Parliament. The National Museum is across the street. On your departure, the hotel can organise a mini-bus to take you to the airport and also a locked luggage room to store your cases. I cannot fault this hotel and would not hesitate to go back.

"Great Location"
The Korona is located just off a metro stop. It is very convienent. I was traveling with someone with hip problems who couldn't walk very much and the location enabled us to hit all of the major sites without any effort...And if you felt like walking, it is not even five minutes from the Vaci Utca. The hotel is modern and could be in any city in the world, so if you are looking for a Hungarian flavor, this is not the place for you. The management was also very accomodating. We asked for a non-smoking twin room close to the elevator and got it. I have no real complaints. However, if your breakfast is not included, I would recommend eating elsewhere. The buffet is just ok and not worth the price if you are paying. The last time we were in Budapest we stayed a bit further out, but it was nice having the option of walking to Chain Bridge. I would definitely stay here again.

"good location"
Stayed at the Korona for 3 nights. The hotel is in an excellent location, right by the Metro and the trams, and also within walking distance of the river.
Our room was slightly small but adequate for a short stay. It was newly decorated and very clean. The only problem with the room was the temperature. The air-con didn't work so we asked them to open our outer window, this cooled the room down but was rather noisy. I noticed that other reviewers had had the same problem - hopefully it will be sorted before the weather gets really warm.
The pool was pleasant, about 30feet long and never crowded. Towels and shampoo were available by the pool.
Breakfast was not included in the price and cost Ł10, which was very expensive, for an okay breakfast. Unfortunately we didn't find anywhere near the hotel for breakfast, but there were plenty of cafes nearer the centre of the city. The hotel also didn't provide tea/coffee making facilties in the rooms.
I would stay in this hotel again if I returned to Budapest, as it is well maintained and very central.

"Good location, nice rooms"
A little too big and not quite intimate hotel, but rooms are very nice, breakfast buffet is 1class - just as the location, near National Museum |

"Good Hotel"
Stayed for 3 nights in a double room at Ł63.00 per night. Room was very clean if somewhat small, but excellent value for money. Hotel is perfectly placed for Gellert Baths and trams and underground (take bus 200 from airport to blue metro line and Kalvin Ter station is next door to hotel). I would definitely stay here again.
Breakfast at Ł12.00 is mediocre, you are better off turning left out of the front door and going to the Coffee Company!
I would definitely recommend this hotel - no frills but clean and air conditioned.

"just the job"
I first stayed here in August 2006 after reading previous reviews. It's clean and professional. The location is perfect - you just roll out of bed and you're in the Metro for super-handy access to the airport or Nepliget bus station, as well as museums etc. Breakfast was excellent, and they don't check your room number so you can get away without paying (which I didn't as I'm too honest). I do go back to this hotel |

"Mercure Korona - All you need in Budapest."
We stayed in a twin room at this excellent hotel. The hotel is in a handy position near the Metro line M3 Kalvin ter station. The room was average size with limited storage space, but had a free safe.
There was a very handy swimming pool and sauna which we enjoyed using after sight-seeing. The breakfast buffet contained a large number of hot and cold items. It was served in a very attractive room. We booked through hotelkey.
