Great location, staff and worth it for the money
This hotel was awesome, they were very accommodating when we arrived even earlier than the check in time 2pm. We arrived around 10am but could've arrived earlier since it's RIGHT OUTSIDE the metro station Manzoni. The metro system is great, I suggest getting a 2 or 3 day pass if you're staying that long (3 day pass for 11 euros). the metro runs every 2 minutes. The free breakfast was AMAZING due to the unending amount of selections (eggs, bacon, ham, salami, fruit, cereal, etc.) Everything was fresh and good. I definitely think this place is worth your buck and highly recommend it to future Rome adventurers!!! They even had free bikes you could use to bike in Rome so we just biked to the Colessium instead =) Definitely saved time and stress on our feet. Although a bit more on the pricey side, I would be wiling to spend extra for the location, cleanliness and helpful staff. I wouldn't worry too much about the train noise that other ppl complained about since I barely heard it and it probably didn't even run at night. You would probably be too tired from the day in Rome and just pass out anyways. Make sure you hit up the gelato place that is near this hotel!! We never asked the staff about it but found it while adventuring spontaneously out late a night for a place to eat since groceries close early (probably around 7-8pm) The gelato place is very popular and DELiCIOUS, called Palazzo del Freddo. Just ask the staff, I'm sure they know what it is and can give you directions. Grocery store is on the way there as well (2 min. walk) Overall, this hotel was definitely a great stay and I would love to stay there again. |

"Could find no faults"
This hotel was really nice. It was exceptionally well kept and very nicely decorated. The room was presented well..................very comfortable beds and proper pillows! Tea and coffee making facilities and a minibar plus flat screen TV (not many English speaking channels though). The bathroom was very clean........towels changed every day. The hotel's cleanliness was excellent. Breakfast consisted of fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, bacon, cereals, toast, yoghurts, juices. The staff were courteous and very helpful and friendly. The location was good but unfortunately the Metro station outside the hotel was closed due to ongoing repairs. The next nearest one was Vittorio Emanuelle but this wasn't far to walk. We had dinner in two nice restaurants which were recommended by the hotel receptionist Fabio. One of them was just a short walk away and was called 'something Bianco. The translation was The White Horse. The food and service was excellent.
I would definately recommend this hotel.

"An excellent hotel"
This is a good hotel just outside the centre of the city, but within ten minutes walk of the colloseum and fifteen minutes of the city centre.
I had a single room which was small but clean and extremely comfortable. It overlooked the courtyard and was absolutely silent at night. The roads nearby did not seem unduly busy to me for Rome - the hotel does not appear to be on one of the main roads in or out of town.
The breakfast was good with a wide selection of hot and cold food, but the coffee (especially the cappucino) was pretty poor, especially by Italian standards.
Best of all about this hotel were the staff. They were friendly, spoke excellent English (much better than my phrasebook Italian) and extremely helpful.
I would certainly return to the Hotel Milton in Rome.

"Terrific Place"
My family of 5 stayed here for 3 nights near Xmas 2006. The inside of the hotel is essentially brand new. Each of my 3 boys got their own room, which they loved. Both the singles and the double rooms are small but this is very typical for Europe and--who cares? You are going there for the city and not to spend time in a hotel.
We had no problem with the location. There were perfectly acceptable restaurants and gelaterias in the immediate neighborhood, which also seemed quiet and safe. It was an easy walk to the Coliseum for our family and we continued walking further to the Forum and then the Pantheon before taking a bus home. There is a Metro station across the street (Manzoni) but it was being renovated when we were there. Anyway, the Metro in Rome is not extensive. It was only a 10-minute walk to the next closest station when we took the Metro to go to the Vatican.
The Basilica of San Clemente is extremely close to the hotel and is definitely worth seeing. The hotel is also close to St. John’s in Laterano.
The breakfast buffet was phenomenal and we usually ate enough to avoid eating again until close to dinner. One of my kids is a picky eater, but there were a variety of choices to satisfy even him. They didn’t have orange juice but instead had ACE juice, which is a mixture of carrot, and other juices that was surprisingly good. We didn’t have much contact with the staff but when we did, they were pleasant and helpful.
Some people might find the street noise a bit loud. We were on the second floor and the noise didn’t bother any of us, but it was December and our windows were closed. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and we would definitely go back if we return to Rome.

Very good hotel
My daughter and I recently stayed at the Hotel Milton. It was a very good hotel, in a very good location, with an excellent breakfast included. The staff was very attentive and polite. The GTA rate was very favorable. |
