"Tutti Bene" Our group of six travelers just finished a 10 day stay at the Hotel Orcagna, which we enjoyed immensely. Because this hotel is just outside the city center the rates were lower than those closer to all the attractions. One of the benefits of the 15 minute walk to the Duomo is that you get to see some of the life of the city not connected to the crowds of tourists. Simone and her mother Isa were as friendly and helpful as any hotel people we have ever met. Each moring we were warmly greeted with a "bon giorno" and had all the coffee, cappucino, or hot chocolate we could consume. The rest of the breakfast was as good as you get in a 2 star hotel in Europe. The rooms at the Orcagna were extremely clean and about the size of a budget hotel in the States, but the bathrooms were very large compared to our experience in other 2 star hotels. Look out for the mosquitos at night!! We finish our stay in Florence with a cocktail party on the balcony in room 51, watching the sun set over the city. In the morning we reluctantly packed up and waved to Simone and her mother who came out to the street as they saw us off to the airport.

"Fantastic hotel for the price" well equipped with a small balcony overlooking Florence and an excellent bathroom with hot water all the time. The breakfast was good, incredible coffee or hot chocolate, fruit juice, rolls, jams, sweet rolls, cereal and yoghurt. All very fresh and as much as you wanted. The TV had CNN so we could keep up to date with world affairs in English. The staff very friendly and helpful as well. The area is not touristy at all, we had some great meals locally where we stumbled through Italian menus with support from waiters. There is a Co-op supermarket 2 minutes away for any food needs or as gifts to take home - wine, oil, vinegar, cheeses, prosciutto etc. The only thing that downs the rating to 4 is the walk into town - not itself a problem but it does make it a long way from the station for buses and trains. Otherwise we enjoyed walking into Firenze along the river.

"Brilliant - strongly recommended" I was bowled over by this hotel, which far surpasses the typical 3 * standard. About 1 mile east of the city centre, safe and easy location, good parking The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful.
