"Marvellous hotel in a wonderful city."
We (myself and wife) choose the Palace on the basis of the (mostly) enthusiastic reviews on this site, and were not disappointed. It is an excellent hotel, in an excellent location and we will certainly return some day.
The room was spacious, the bed enormous and everything spotlessly clean. The service was very attentive and could not be faulted - twice we had to phone reception because of small things missing from our room e.g. a bottle opener, and on each occasion , they delivered the goods to our door within five minutes.
I don't know why previous guests complain about the prices - what do you really expect in a 5 star hotel? Personally, I found the prices okay e.g the superior beer in the mini-bar (Pilsner Urquell) was the same price as the inferior beer on the Easyjet flight out (around £3 a bottle). The breakfast was excellent and was so filling that we found no need to lunch during our sightseeing. The location of the hotel means that you can walk everywhere, without worrying about trams and the underground.
Our only regret is not eating in the Gourmet Club restaurant - we stuffed ourselves elsewhere so much on the first night that we felt we could not do justice to a big 3-course meal on our second and final night. This restaurant - with piano player and understated opulence - looked superb. And the prices - which many previous punters have complained about - are not that outrageous, being £17 to £20 for a main course, before the 25% discount which we were offered. I've paid those sort of prices in England to dine in far less attractive surroundings!
If you are not the fussy type and are prepared to pay that little bit more for a little bit extra quality, I would not hesitate to recommend the Palace.

"Elegant, comfortable hotel"
I believe the previous poster may have meant a different hotel -- there are several in Prague with the word "Palace" in their name. It is hard to believe his review describes the hotel we stayed in.
We found the Palace freshly and plushly decorated in comfortable, traditional style. Both public areas and the private rooms were extremely well maintained, clean, and spacious. It is located on a quiet street in a very convenient location, within an easy walk of nearly everything. The building was charming and the service was both warm and efficient. The concierge made excellent recommendations for restaurants -- from an outstanding (and pricey) nouvel French restaurant on the river to a "real" Czech beer cellar with local food and a local crowd, where the dinner was extremely generous and cheap.
Across the street from the hotel is the Mucha Museum -- small, but well worth a visit.

"Palace Hotel"
I would highly recommend the Palace Hotel. it is a little bit pricey but the hotel and location are excellent. The service also is first class. Situated just off Wenceslaus Square it is easy to get almost everywhere within the city centre. Breakfast was included in my stay and this again was very nice and served between 7am and 10.30 I was there of course around 9am and the service was first class and English papers were provided. All the staff I saw spoke English. Only draw back is the restaurant prices like all hotels are horrifically expensive a bowl of soup being £10 but just across the road there is an excellent sandwich shop which does beautiful sandwiches and drinks. I thoroughly enjoyed Prague and yes there is a little bit of grafitti but it gets cleaned off, the locals I met were all very polite and most of the museum staff spoke English. It was weird to see trams and of course they drive on the wrong side of the road. You have to watch their pedestrian crossings the pedestrian has right of way but anyone thinking this will be dead or in hospital within an hour. Palace Hotel, first choice, Rott Hotel second choice, Hoffmeister a bit off the centre third choice

"Great Experience. Extremely Nice. Helpful staff."
We spent three nights in the Palace Praha over Christmas. Our room was big, nice, and clean. The service at the Palace was top notch. We utilized the airport pickup and drop off service arranged through the great concierge services. We had an additional be brought to the room for our 6 yr old, which was a full size twin bed. The full service bar is open 24hrs, and is a great place to wind down after a day of sight seeing. There is free internet access from a computer in the business center. The breakfast buffet was a great way to begin the day. Excellent selections of meats, eggs, pastries, bread, cereals, and juices. Overall, we thought the hotel was an excellent bargain for a 5-star hotel.

"5* Service Has Not Changed In Two Years - Excellent Place To Stay!!!!"
This is the 2nd time my girlfriend and I have stayed at this 5* hotel within a 2-year period, and both the hotel and associated service remains top class. There are a number of 5* hotels within Prague, but unlike the other ones (mainly consisting of multi-national chains) the Hotel Palace wants to stand out and does so successfully. A Mariott or Hilton is still a Mariott or Hilton irrelevant of the city or country - they all look and feel the same. Hotel Palace is different. On our first night my girl and I returned to our rooms after a day of walking only to find the General Manager has left a signed "With Compliments" letter, accompanied with a bottle of very fine red wine, fruit and chocolates. It is these little unexpected treats which makes the Palace Hotel stand out. Free Interet access, excellent rooms, and very friendly staff all added to an amazing 3 days in Prague. We are returning in Feb (mainly to witness this amazing city covered in snow), and the only hotel we will looking to stay in is the Palace Hotel!!!

"Superb staff"
One of those hotels that has clearly and completely embraced the concept of “customer service” (not always a given in this part of Europe). The hotel staff was very attentive and helpful. The room was up-to-date, and a comfortable size for two friends and their luggage. The beds were wonderful and the bathroom was bright and clean.
The only negative was that the bath/shower had a “half door” that allowed water to flow onto the floor. An extra towel rolled up next to the tub will fix this. Good selection of tea in the room with an electric hot pot. The breakfast room was cherry with windows all around. Good choice of food. Within walking distance to the old center, Charles Bridge, etc.

"Ideal hotel"
Have just returned from the Palace Hotel in Prague. Took the elderly in-laws with us, and this was the ideal hotel for us. Close enough to Wencelaus Square, but not right on it. Just a 3 minute walk to the centre for shops, bars ,restaurants etc. Excellent facilities, real 5 star treatment from the manager and all of the staff. Have stayed in some good hotels over the years and this hotel ranks along with the best of them. We dealt directly with the hotel for booking and got our rooms at half of the rack rate. Went out for my wife's birthday and she was presented with a cake and a bottle of free champagne on our arrival. Would not hesitate to return to this hotel.

"Excellent Hotel"
I and my lovely wife stayed at the Palace for a
special birthday event (22nd Oct - 26th Oct).
This is an excellent hotel, rooms were spotless,
staff very helpful and the breakfast has everything
you require (I requested 2 soft boiled eggs every
morning and these were done to perfection)
The bar is a bit pricey, lookout for a charming
little wine bar (turn first right and first right again. Great wine for the girls and great beer
for the boys. Enjoy.

"Great Hotel"
My wife and I just returned from this lovely hotel. The hotel was very clean and the staff was excellent. Breakfast was outstanding for a European hotel. My wife and I did not eat in the restaurant however, we did order from the room service menu and the food was great. I would recommend getting some beverages (water and soda) from the corner store we paid over 4 euros for a bottle of coke.
The hotel is located in a great area, only a 2 minutes walk to some great shops on Na Příkopě Street, a 10 minutes walk to Old town square and 20 minutes to the Charles Bridge. If you are looking for some casino action, there is a great little Casino called Palais Savarin located on Na Příkopě Street for more information ----.
The only draw back and this may have been because I did not ask, but we used the hotel parking garage and the charge is 25 euros a day. The bottom line, there may be better hotels in Prague, but I doubt I will never know because when we go back will stay at the Hotel Palace Praha.
