"Very nice suite of rooms!"
My husband and I stayed at Le Jean Sebastien Bach Hotel May 24-26, 2005. Our European friends researched and booked this hotel. I am glad they did! Although it was quite a hike to downtown Strasbourg, the room and terrace made up for the long walk and rail ride. Our friends booked the large apartements, the second highest class of room. We didn't know, so boy did we get a pleasant surprise! We walked in to a small entry way that had two doors, one to the toilet and one to the suite. The room had a large family room area with a couch that made into a bed, a desk, a table with chairs, and a kitchenette! Open to the family room was a bedroom with a king sized bed and another door, the bathroom with a shower, a sink, and a tub. The best part is it had a huge terrace off the of the entire room. The windows slide open to find a table and chairs on the terrace, over looking a small courtyard and other apartments. We faced the east, so the sun came in in the morning, but our terrace was shaded at night, which was perfect since we arrived during a heat wave. This hotel did have AC, but the quiet area let us open the great windows for a fresh breeze. Breakfast in the morning was like most European hotels: croissant, rolls, meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, juices, coffe, tea, hot chocolate. The breakfast area was tiny, but we never saw it crowded. The only negative was the distance from downtown Strasbourg and the smell of the hallways. We had to walk about 15 minutes to the rail station to get a train to town. Again, the hotel was worth it, but I would think hard about it if you can't walk that far. You could rent a bike if you would rather ride. Parking there is a nightmare, but bikes are everywhere. I would also recommend the Strasbourg Pass to see the cathedral, the clock, a day's bike rental, a museum, a boat tour, and more very cheaply.

"Great end to a long day"
We had travelled from Calais the day of our arrival, with an screaming 8 month old and to find the oasis that was Residence Jean-Sebastien was wonderful. For a start, there was on site parking. Secondly, we had a suite so our son would be able to sleep in his own room, so to speak and thirdly; room service choices were great and and the service, prompt. Location-wise, we had a lovely view of Strasbourg from the huge balcony and a walk of about 25 minutes saw us in the centre of the city. Breakfast was plain and simple but most sufficient. Staff were very accommodating of our young son. also, the bathroom was great: bath and separate shower and a separate toilet. There were cooking facilities in the room and if we had our time again, we'd have stayed more than the one night. Staff were very helpful.

"Excellent value"
This hotel is obviously used by visitors to the European Institutions in Strasbourg, though we stayed there over Christmas. It's a bit out of the way for the tourist sites, about 30 minutes walk to the Cathedral, but located in a quiet, diplomatic quarter, next to the Orangerie (ideal for walks and jogging). Rooms are reasonably sized studios, with a cooking/eating area. There is no Internet access in either the rooms or public areas, so you'll be lumbered with "steam-radio" dial-up. I parked our car in the street outside the hotel - there was always room within about 100 m. I tried to book direct with the hotel, both on their website and by phone but was quoted rates that were twice those of bookings.com and the hotel wasn't prepared to negotiate, so guess how I booked... Breakfasts are more European than American, and there was plenty available. The breakfast area is a bit small and I have no idea what they do when the hotel is full. I would definitely use it again - the price/quality at the rate I got was outstanding. Staff were pleasant, smiling and helpful.

"Excellent"
We spent 14 nights in the Pasitea, and were tempted to see if we could stay another seven. It is small but delightful, and the staff are exemplary in their attention, and, it has to be said, good humour. We took an executive room with jacuzzi, and the terrace and the views were stunning. Hard to find anything to fault, except the location. For those who don't like walking, it is quite a climb back up from the old town and the beach, but on the other hand, there's a bus service right outside the door. We'd go back next year, which is perhaps the best recommendation of all.

"Great Value for Money"
Couldn't disagree more with the other review. This hotel is great value for money. Rooms are simple, clean and charming. Staff was warm, helpful, attentive. Our room had a double bed (yes, two singles pushed together, but this is the NORM in Italy!), and a pull-out couch for our 7-year old. The two areas were divided by a wave-like wall with a peek-a-boo hole. Very characteristic of the area. The balcony had a delightful wrought iron table with chairs, creeping bouganvillia on all sides, and looked out to the sea with breathtaking views. Continental breakfast was included at a great off-season price. A definite "find" in a costly touristy town!
