The combination of quality and comfort..
Hotel Reykjavik Centrum is a new 4 * hotel in the heart of the city, opened on April 1st 2005. It is located on one of Reykjavik’s oldest streets, Adalstraeti, in a newly renovated building, the oldest part of which was built in 1764. On each side of it, new buildings have been constructed in the likeness of their historic predecessors Fjalakötturinn and Uppsalir. The hotel spreads over all three buildings, and is designed in the style found in Reykjavík around 1900. During its construction, the remains of a Viking longhouse from the Settlement Period were found. In 2006 an attractive exhibition centre 871+-2 opened under the hotel, where the longhouse’s remains will be on display together with related exhibits. |

"Lovely hotel"
We've just returned from a 3 night stay at Hotel Reykjavik Centrum and I can honestly say it's one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in.
On the whole the staff were friendly and helpfull. The room was small but clean and had everthing would expect. It was a bit noisy thanks to the wooden floors - someone in the room above seemed to really enjoy moving all their furniture around!
Having said this I would recommend staying here to anyone. All of the other hotels we saw during our stay (admittedly we only saw them from the outside!) looked a bit grotty. Centrum was by far the prettiest.
I'd also highly recommend the Northern Lights and Golden Circle tours. They were fab!
There is also a lovely and really reasonably priced bar / restaurant on the main shopping street called "Bistro". The food and service were great.

"A Perfect Place to Stay"
The hotel was excellent. The room was clean, the shower was hot, the location was excellent, the people were nice and they had a great breakfast. You should definitely try and get the breakfast included as it'll keep you going all day. |

Beautiful
The hotel was beautiful, loved the old merging into new styling.
Our room was very pleasant and a good size, with calming decor in soft greens and neutral colours. A good 'homely' feel unlike some of the more impersonal hotels you tend to find.
Good sized bathroom, that actually had a bath with a shower over, plenty of hot water.
Staff friendly, professional and helpful.
As it was our wedding anniversary, we splashed out on an evening meal at the restaurant. The food was superb, and for Iceland, the wine was a reasonable price.
We used the bar for evening meals for the rest of our stay, the food was equally brilliant and cheaper. This was a great hotel, and we have decided to stay there again later this year. |

Excellent Location, Superb Hotel
The front desk staff were extremely friendly. I never had to wait in line as someone from the back office would jump up if they suspected you would have to wait. The breakfast buffet (included with room) was excellent and a great way to load up in the morning in order to skip having lunch when we were out. The room was a lot of fun with 2 floors, 2 TVs, etc.The location could not have been more central.Supposedly the hotel was full, but it never felt crowded. I would gladly stay here again.

"Hotel Centrum is your best bet!"
Just returned from a quick two day vacation to Reykjavik. I can't say enough good things about this hotel (Centrum). Location is right downtown, you can walk just about everywhere. Rooms were very well done and felt more personal than the typical benign decoration of a massive hotel chain. I didn't eat on the premise beyond the breakfast buffet so no comment there.
I planned and researched this trip on behalf of 8 friends, and I'm glad I chose this hotel over the other contenders (Radisson, Nordica, Borg).
Also, I booked my hotel and airfare separately, which I would recommend. If you look closely at the packages from Icelandair, you'll see there is zero discount on everything included. In other words, you're not paying less for buying it all at once. Pretty tricky IcelandAir! I think you're better off just buying as you go (airport transport, breakfast, etc), and using travel websites to get the best deals on lodging.
