"Fabulous!" Very central hotel with helpful staff ideally located to explore sights of city. Metro entrance & Tourist info booth right outside and 2mins from tourist bus starting point. Easily able to walk to the Port area and Gaudi's Casa Batlo in short time from hotel. Stayed in a lovely medium room with no view but we were out and about more often than in hotel! Large bathroom with great shower and walk in wardrobe with safe. Breakfast was simple continental at 9euro each while watching the street performers warming up. Restaurant in evening was little overpriced but loads of other places nearby including Attic opposite (yum!) & Les Quinze Nits and Taxidermista are 5min walk away beside a couple of lively Irish bars in Placa Reial.

"A central and pleasant hotel" I have visited several times this property and must say that I have always been pleased. Room not huge but pleasant and in a good state of repair, everything was working. Bathroom quite adequate. Bar is very nice and the barman knows his job. Staff quite pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. Excellent buffet breakfast. No restaurant but the one next door is quite good, food and service more than acceptable and reasonable pricing. The location is quite good but I do not like driving in Barcelona, finding a parking space etc and have opted now for hotels outside Barcelona, but this has nothing to do with the ROYAL. ALL IN ALL I WOULD CERTAINLY RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY.

"Excellent Hotel!!" We booked Hotel Royal for 1 night pre-cruise. This property was everything it claimed to be. From the moment we stepped out of the cab and were welcomed by the doorman to the time we checked out the staff were pleasant and very helpful. We had requested a nonsmoking room overlooking La Rambla. We had been warned that European hotels had different standards to those in Canada and the US. We were pleasantly surprised to find our room to be spotless and a good size. The new double glazed windows eliminated all sound to our third floor room from the street below - yet provided a wonderful view of the carnival like atmoshpere of La Rambla. Ideally located on La Rambla, we were able to walk to Port Vell, The Barri Gotic and Placa de Catalunya. Before we left on our vacation we received a "welcome" email reconfirming our plans and upon arriving home had a "thank you" email. Something we have never had from hotels before!! We would return to Hotel Royal without hesitation!!
