Hotel Royal Hotel Royal Hotel Royal

  Hotel Information

This hotel has an excellent location...

Hotel Royal has a superb location in the heart of Vienna, on the steps of St Stephens Cathedral and next to the famous shopping street the Graben. The building is a relatively modern stone building.

The rooms, tastefully furnished in period style, invite guests to a pleasant stay. The Ristorante Firenze Enoteca Italian restaurant is a favorite meeting place of VIPs of Vienna and of opera stars. In the wine cellar matures the largest collection of Italian wines in Austria. The former pilgrim hostel 'Zum Roten Apfel' from 1566 was honoured in 1708 by Emperor Joseph I with 'imperial letter and seal'. In 1931 the house was purchased by the Kremslehner family, burned down during the Second World War and was reopened in 1960.
LOCATION

Hotel Royal is situated in the City, close to St Stephen's Cathedral, next to the famous Karntnerstrasse, in an absolutely quiet location. A public underground garage and the subway are nearby.
PROPERTY AMENITIES

* Ristorante Firenze Enoteca:
The architecture of the Ristorante Firenze Enoteca reminds of an Italian Palazzo of medieval times. The traditional Tuscan kitchen with a great variety of homemade pasta, as well as the excellent service will remind you of your last holiday in Italy. The standard menu includes seasonal specialities as for example truffles from Alba. Vienna´s largest collection of "Chianti Classico" and wine rarities (some from the 1950ies) make your visit in one of the oldest Italian speciality restaurants in Austria a unique experience.

* Ristorante Settimo Cielo:
The panorama in "seventh heaven" restaurant overviews St. Stephen's Cathedral, Belvedere Castle, Imperial Palace, City Hall and the Viennese Woods. The hotel offers refined Italian kitchen which focuses on seafood - such as fresh fish, lobster and all varieties of clams.

* A business-center is available at the Hotel Royal where you can check your e-mails, surf the net or just do your work.

Consigliato a tutti

"Fantastic location, friendly staff, pokey room"
A great location right at the centre of the city - great value. I was with a friend and we were both given small, inward facing single rooms without natural light. This wasn't a problem though as we spent most of our time exploring the city. The staff were friendly and helpful.

"Great location, good value"
The location of this hotel, right on St. Stephen's Square cant be bettered in Vienna. The room was large and bright, and the staff friendly. Good breakfast included. Lots of reasonably priced restaurants nearby and the Metro is right across the square. The location is one Metro stop or a 15 minute walk from the City Air Terminal.

"Great location, good value"
The location could not be better , around the corner from Stephens Square (cathedral). Staff very friendly, rooms are spacious and very good value, breakfast buffet good. Only problem was noise early morning from renovations that are taking place. Check this before you book but otherwise would recommend as a good value mid range hotel.

"Was the grand finale to a wonderful trip"
We stayed at the Royal hotel in Vienna at the end of a fabulous holiday in Europe. We had been on a Mediterranean cruise, and thought that anything after that would be an anti climax. We were wrong. The Hotel is not only superbly located, the staff and management went out of their way to look after us. Thet were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are excellent, the breakfasts very good. Our stay in Vienna was truly made memorable by the lovely memories we carry of our stay at the royal. We have recommended this wonderful hotel to all our friends and relatives who are planning to visit Vienna.

"Location, Location, Location"
Great location, right around the corner from Stephens Dom, and a U-Bahn station less than 30 meters from the entrance. Don't know what all the bi&^*ing's about: great staff, although it obviously helped me to speak with the staff in German as opposed to those who didn't (maybe that's where the problems lie?). Rooms are small, but clean with cool truly-retro Victorian furnishings. Also the breakfast is excellent, and the hotel restaurant is outstanding. Bottom line is for the location, can't beat the price/value.

"Wonderful hotel, perfect location for a city break"
We stayed at the Royal Hotel during the week before Easter 2006. We were allocated a fourth floor room which was spacious with interesting decor - part retro, part sixties - but the pictures we had seen on websites were accurate (we suggest that if they upgrade the decor they could charge much more for this perfect location). The beds were comfortable and the room kept clean. I guess that rooms on the floors above four would be more luxurious. Rooms have a cute double entrance door which keeps corridor noise to a minimum. Our room had separate toilet / bathroom which is always useful. The room had double glazing and there was very little traffic noise. The reception staff (a young woman mainly) was very helpful indeed, all spoke clear English. The cleaners were pleasant and always wished us good morning. Breakfast buffet was substantial, enough to keep you going through a busy day of walking. The hotel is located next to St Stephens Cathedral and one minute from the nearest U-bahn station (St. Stephen's) which meant that we were really centrally located for sight seeing. The Hofburg area is only 10 minutes walk, as is the ringstrasse, opera etc., but these are all accessable by underground. There are lots of restaurants in the Graben and behind the cathedral, but the diamond in the Royal's crown must be the seventh floor restaurant - the food was delightful and well worth sampling. The staff in the restaurant were delightful and very helpful indeed. We really did enjoy this evening. Vienna is a beautiful - impressive city. The Habsburg legacy is all around, you see, smell and taste history with every step. Orient yourself with a trip on a tram (1 or 2) around the ringstrasse and don't miss the ride on the Prater Wheel (we had to watch the Third Man three times before our trip). And finally, happy birthday Mozart!
