Dating back to 1898, the historic Scala-Stiegl Hotel in Bolzano underwent a complete renovation at the beginning of 2008. Close to Bolzano city centre and only steps away from the train station, the hotel's excellent location makes it a perfect base for exploring this fascinating city and its surroundings. Visitors to Bolzano will discover natural beauty and plenty of cultural attractions, while winter sports enthusiasts can take advantage of the hotel's close proximity to the Renon Cable Car.

LOCATION

Hotel Scala Stiegl is situated quite conveniently only 5-10 minutes by foot away from the historic city core with its shoppingstreets and landmarks. The Archeology Muesum with the wellknown glacier-mummy "Ötzi" is as well only 15 miuntes by feet away. The train station is as well within walking distance, also 5-10 miuntes, a cab ride takes only 2 minutes. The nearest bus stop is just within 50 metres, where the number 12 can take you either to the magnificent "Roncolo" Castle with it medieval affrescos of historical importance or the valley station of the San Genesio cable car.

Literally around the corner you find the Renon cablecar. The short ride of approx. 10 minutes takes you up to the tradional “Sommerfrische” resort (Summertime resort) of the Renon high plateau, there you can find plenty of opportunity for rambling or simply enjoy the amazing mountain panorama. If you walk along Via Beda-Weber alongside the Hotel you willl find the quiet Oswaldweg which leads you through a residential zone to the beginning of the St. Oswald promenade, ideal for a short walk or for the more sporty amongst us even some jogging.

"A gem!"
We loved this hotel! The free parking is very convenient and it is in walking distance of the downtown area and the funicular. People at the front desk were very friendly and helpful, the room, spacious and clean, the common ares, nice (specially the outdoors!) Had a lovely dinner outside and a yummy breakfast, the next morning. We highly recommend it!

"Our favorite"
This was a stop over night, so we didn't ask for an upgraded room. Next time, we will spend more time in Bolzano and stay here longer. Standard room was clean, quiet, and typically small. Breakfast was one of the best we had during our entire two week travels.

"Great family room"
Germanic hotel in a good position on the edge of the pedestrianised old town. Quiet at night even though near the station. The family room was on two levels with own internal staircase, to give privacy, and had a balcony looking onto the hillside & vineyards, with side view of the Alps. This is a 'proper' hotel, with room service etc. and own garage 8 euros per day). Garden a green oasis but the pool is deep throughout so no good for non-swimmers. Towels provided for pool. Cable car stops nearby- can go up into Alps (take warm clothes!).
