Hotel Sporthotel Strass is one of Mayrhofen’s most popular hotels with live music, grill, late night eaterie and après ski "Ice bar". The building consist of 2 wings (Sport hotel and Strass hotel), joined by a central reception area. The excellent sport and leisure facilities are based in the Sporthotel. Strass Garni - Accomodation is also available in the annexe known as the Strass Garni just 30 meters away. Guests staying in the Garni eat breakfast in the Garni whilst evening meals are taken in the Sporthotel Strass, opposite.
The hotel runs by the Roscher Family, this modern and stylish hotel has been a firm favourite with Thomson guests for many years. The building consists of two wings, the Sport (left building in picture) and the Strass (right building in picture), joined by a central reception area.

LOCATION
Hotel Sporthotel Strass is located in the city center of Mayerhofen. Set in the beautiful Ziller Valley, Mayrhofen has the air of a typical Tyrolean village, its streets lined with frescoed houses, shops, restaurants, cafés and stüberl bars. There are over 45km of walking paths with breathtaking scenery at every turn, or you could hire a mountain bike and cycle at your leisure through the alps, stopping off at welcoming cafés and bars for a well-earned drink or snack on your way.
In the centre of the village, directly next to the Penken gondola (Ski- and walking area Zillertal 3000). Only 2 hours drive from all main Austrian and European Airports. In the heart of the Alps.
Families will find days of fun exploring the mountains, waterfalls and enchanting forests in the area. Children are well catered for with a full entertainment programme in peak season. The local tourist office even has a counter reserved for children where they can collect a small welcome package and get some ideas of things to do during their stay. There are popular trips to Salzburg, the Krimml Waterfalls and Innsbruck.
At night, Mayrhofen comes alive with bars, beer kellers and restaurants to suit every taste. There are also eight discos with dance music ranging from polkas to rave.

"Great service and food at the Strass"
A great holiday enjoyed at the Strass, food excellent and free packed lunches with Thomsons. Excellent location, next door to the Penken Cable Car and plenty of shops all around. Walks and excursions organised by the hotel and Thomsons. Room traditional style with Austrian twin beds and private bathroom. Excellent days out on mountain tops as the weather was excellent, 7 days of sunshine and high temperatures. Ziller Valley area beautiful and easy to get around on local buses and trains. Will return in the near future. Spa and pool facilities excellent. |

"fabulous holiday"
just returned from fabulous holiday at the strass garni hotel. this is rated 3* hotel, but guests eat and have use of all the facilities at the 4* strass hotel next door. The hotel is in the centre of mayrhofen , ideally situated for cable cars and local transport. all the staff were extremely pleasant, efficient and courteous,. We were given buffet continental breakfast, packed lunches (3 times a week) delicious 4-course waiter service evening meals. not to mention free afternoon cakes. the quality of the food was exceptional . during our stay we had the use of all the facililities - indoor pool, gymnasium, tennis, table-tennis, jaccuzi, crazy golf, nudist sauna (not used!!), and entertainment. the hotel also supplied free beach towels and bath-robes. the hotel also organised 3 free guided walks in the local mountains,. during the day there were also organised activities, such as water aerobics, pat tennis, etc. cannot recommend too highly.
possibly the best recommendation is that we are intending to return in 2006. our thanks to the roscher family and staff for a wonderful holiday. |
