"Hotel Tirena was great :)"
I travelled with my friend throughout Europe in August. I can definetly say that Croatia was our favourite part of the trip. It's a beautiful country, with great weather, beaches and historical sites. Hotel Tirena was a pleasant surprise, as it appears to be far from the Old City on maps. It's actually not far at all; a short bus ride gets you there in no time. The hotel was in a beautiful area called Babin Kuk, where there were a handful of hotels in a cluster. Because of the concentration of hotels, it felt almost resort-like, with a small shopping area and a disco. The pool was nice and clean, which is always a bonus! The food was wonderful, as the hotel had its own buffets (the breakfast one was included in the price). The buffets offered a lot of variety. The room itself was one of the biggest we had in our travels, and was very clean. The bathroom was big, and had the most "north american" shower we'd seen (which for us, was a relief!!). The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly ,and they all spoke English. We werent bothered by the noise from the disco (as I read in another review). We could hear music and laughter faintly, but the glass doors were very soundproof. We had definetly stayed in hotels in louder areas then that. All in all, we would stay at Tirena again in a heartbeat.

"Choose Tirena"
Hotel Tirena on Babin Kuk peninsula was really great, although some of the staff seemed to be quite bored with their lives. Rooms were clean and the breakfast was fine. Don't try the restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel though. Not far away from the beaches (pebble or rock) and the joint Babin Kuk hotels pool nearby is great and has a bar. The bus takes you downtown in no time, you can even walk if you like to. Stayed there with my choir of 30 persons and no one had anything to complain about. Contact ms. Marilka Tovarac for groups, she'll arrange everything!

"We loved Croatia"
We stayed in Hotel Tirea in May of 2007. We thought Dubrovnik and other parts of Croatia are stunningly beautiful. Hotel Tirena is a touch old fashioned, but they have done a good job restoring it after the War in the 90's. The staff are very pleasant and friendly, we found the food to be ok, not gourmet by any standards, but it wasnt awful, the buffet offers lots of choice both for breakfast and Dinner, we enjoyed it. The bedrooms, were large and clean, the bathrooms quite large with lovely powerful showers. The Pool is clean, but a bit dull, the furnishings are bit dated. There isnt much to do at night in the Babin Kuk area, so most evenings we took the local bus down to the old town, which is really beautiful. We found Croatia to be clean , safe, and very reasonably priced, we had a wonderful holiday and would most definitely return.
