"Super spot" We spent part of our honeymoon here. We took a two storey hut, with a great 1st floor veranda, where we could watch the sun go down. The hut itself was great, though you do have to go down a very steep set of steps to the outside lavatory which might not suit all. The more modern western style rooms were very luxurious if that's more your cup of tea though. The hotel was lovely to stay in, and very laid back. We travelled independently, though many here were with Italian tour operators. The beach bar is great and so is the pool, with a swim-up bar. Certainly this hotel appeared to be the best on Gili Trawangan for my money. The beach is great at high tide but there is a lot of broken coral at low tide, which makes for somewhat uncomfortable snorkelling. Once you get out though, there is great snorkelling or diving from right in fromt of the hotel. The food in the hotel was great, but the wine, as elsewhere is pretty poor - don't bother with the Balinese stuff - no problem with the beer anywhere fortunately! All along the island are lovely beach side restaurants serving amazing fresh fish - hard to hold yourself back. One word of caution, I took some metronidazole in case of getting gastroenteritis, which we both duly got (despite much travel in the past). Despite this it took a while to clear up - but I was very please to have taken it with me. Finally, I couldn't get a clear answer as to whether malaria is a problem on the island - apparently not really, and certainly there was no obvious stagnant water anywhere. However, in the absence of advice to the contrary, we took prophylaxis.

"Fantastic, helpful, great food, great diving and thank you" This is a great place: I stayed in one of the two-story huts, and enjoyed it enormously. The bathroom was fantastic. The food was great, the staff and service were great, and the dive center was unbelievable in terms of help, service. etc. I had a rough time getting from Lombok to Gili Trawangan, and was pretty upset by the time I arrived: my return plane ticket to Bali was fake, and getting through the port in Lomok was worse than a nightmare. The hotel arranged everything for the trip back--which required getting from Gili Trawangan to Lomok and then to Bali airpoty by 2 pm on New Year's Day. I was there with time to spare, no hassles, no problems. Many many thanks for a nice stay and a memorable New Year's Eve.
