"Perfect "
Three of my friends and I stayed in the Berna Hotel this week for two nights on a room only basis. We had a bit of a bad experience with a taxi from the airport who overcharged us but that is not the hotels fault. On arrival we found the check-in a little slow but eventually got to the rooms. They were clean and compact.Plenty of shower gel and soap for the unprepaired.Plenty of clean towels. The bar staff were very friendly an had very good english. We were in town for a Football Match at the Benfica ground which was not too far away.On the whole we had a very nice stay and Man.United won the match which was an added bonus.Hope to visit the Berna again.

"Worth every penny"
Although the Berna is a little north of "downtown" Lisbon (about a mile) the place was all I could ask for. Nice staff, nearly all speak English. Nice rooms. And the price includes a full breakfast daily from 7a to 10a. The works eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, coffee, tea, espresso, fruit, all breads, juice and cereals, on and on.
All of the following are w/in 1 block. Express buses directly to/from airport (3 euros), the metro, several city bus lines to downtown, the Portugal train system, restaurants, supermarkets drugstores etc.
I will return..." to Lisbon, I will go back to the Berna.

"Nice choice for budget traveler"
The room sizes were not that small by European standards and the breakfast choices were surprisingly varied. The hotel has a decent bar/lounge area. My wife and I liked staying away from downtown, to see "real" neighborhoods in Lisbon; in this case, a pleasant, generally affluent commercial area.

Excellent
May only be a 3 Star but I could not find fault, very reasonable prices, clean modern rooms, excellent service and fantastic Breakfast included. Also convenient to City Centre via the Metro and for the budget minded get the 44 Bus to the Airport. A taxi ride to the Airport is only 10 euro. Excellent |

"Worth every penny, er... I mean Euro."
Nice staff, nearly all speak English. Nice rooms. And the price includes a full breakfast daily from 7a to 10a. The works eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, coffee, tea, espresso, fruit, all breads, juice and cereals, on and on.

the best deal I found was at octopus travel (---) total taxes and all was $59 US per night (3/7-9/2005) As McArthur said"...I will return..." to Lisbon, I will go back to the Berna.
