"Hotel Ibis in great location"
Hotel Ibis is a moderate European hotel in a great location, across the street from the Hauptbahnhof, the main railroad station. The Hauptbahnhof has a grocery store, drugstore, bookstore, newstand in the bottom level as well as a restaurant and a food court with several very good eating places. We especially enjoyed the Wok and the Athena. The hotel was well-kept up and clean. It cost 71 euros per night for a double with an extra 9 euros per person for the breakfast buffet. The buffet was a typical European one with breads, rolls, lunch meats and cheeses, hard boiled eggs, fruit, etc. There was a bus stop right outside the hotel serviced by four or five bus lines. In addition, you could catch any of three tram lines in the lower level of the train station. Each stop had an automated ticket dispenser for mini, midi, and maxi tickets. The maxi cost 3 euros and let you ride anywhere all day. We took the tram to the Postlingberg mountain tram and went up the tramway to the top--a worthwhile trip. This tram is in the Guiness Book of Records for being the steepest non-cog tram in the world. It cost 10.50 euros for three of us. The Old Town was charming and for 5 euros per person you could ride on a little tourist train which took a 25 minute spin through the Old Town with narration. You sat in the car which had the narration in your language. The Neuer Dom (Old Cathedral) was especially beautiful.
