Ibis Praha Karlin Hotel Ibis Praha Karlin Hotel Ibis Praha Karlin Hotel

  Hotel Information

Offering top quality services for business clients...

A fairly well-kept secret (by virtue of being slightly outside the main tourist centre), Ibis Praha Karlin Hotel offers comfortable rooms at affordable prices for travellers on a reasonable budget who would prefer not to use a pension.

A full range of conference facilities allows this hotel to accommodate business travellers adequately but less expensively than other options in town.

A short tram ride lands tourists in the middle of the sights with adequate night tram access or else a short taxi ride to get back. Although a bit generic, the hotel is the perfect option for those valuing modern convenience over architectural grace or old world nostalgia.
LOCATION

Ibis Praha Karlin Hotel is located in the city centre, just 3 kilometres from Vystaviste Exhibition Centre. The centre of the town can be reached in 10 minutes by subway ("Krizikova" station is 200 metres from hotel) or by tram (stop "Urxova" is 100 metres from hotel) and in about 20 minutes on foot.

"Excellent value"
Just returned from a 3 night stay. First time in Prague, full of trepedation, on location, and standard. What a terrific suprise, hotel was situated just on outskirts of main Prague centre, but very accessible, 5 min by regular tram, or 25 min walk. The location provides numerous restaurants, and bars, all at very reasonable prices and of excellent quality. The rooms were cosy and clean, the food offered was excellent and the staff were very helpful. Would highly recommend, and we forty- somethings will definately be returning to this hotel.

"Karlin worth considering"
Ideal location, 2 min. from downtown autostrada, 5 min. to main reailway station, 3 metro stops to Vaclav square, garage in the hotel. Friendly staff, large rooms compared to average Ibis size, rich restaurant menu and excellent Czech beer. And all this for 41 € per room thru [--------]

"Great hotel"
I stayed at this hotel for two nights in August 2004. It was really cheap (compared to other hotels in Prague), so our expectations were rather low. We were however pleasantly surprised, the rooms were really big (though we found out by a map of the firedoors that ours was the biggest on that floor), staff was really friendly, and you had access to both tram and subway within 100 metres. Although this hotel is located a bit outside the city-centre, Wenceslaw Square kan be reached in about 5-10 minutes with the subway. We would definitely stay at this hotel again!

"A Great Time"
I have just spent 5 days at the Ibis Karlin Hotel. I found it to be good value for money, clean, with friendly staff and well run. The breakfast, although nothing special, was worth the money and you could eat as much or as little as you wanted. A small criticism I have is with to the TV, only news channels which became a form of torture after the first hour! Of course I am aware that you don't go to Prague to watch TV! The centre of Prague is within easy reach; the inexpensive metro or tram is within 2 minutes of the hotel however, I prefered to walk to the centre which is a straight road and takes about 20 minutes. Quite often the restaurants and bars in the centre are more or less UK prices and one of the advantages of walking to the centre is the fact that you can pick the many places to enjoy a meal. These are frequented by locals and are VERY much cheaper than the tourist traps, don't expect them to look great on the outside however, they do have character but unfortunately they can get very smokey. Go to Rocky O'Reilleys Irish Pub where they have displayed a helpful list of Prague's Do's and Dont's. Watch out when in the castle grounds the small restaurants/bars can be pricey and check their adding up, I wasn't the only person to get caught out!! All in all a great place to spend a few days and so stay at the very well run Ibis Karlin you will not be disappointed.

"Good value accommodation"
of us spent 4 nights here in mid-October. 2 of us (my partner and I) shared a very generously proportioned room which had lots of floor space and two double beds. My 2 teenage sons and their friend had a twin room with an extra bed which was somewhat less spacious but more than good enough for guys who are usually quite happy to sleep on floors or in tents! Beware - there does not seem to be any age restriction on drinking beer in bars. The 3 boys were 16 and 17 and were only asked once about their age and that was in an Irish bar in the centre! The beer is also very cheap! One of the plus points had to be the chance to eat breakfast late (up to about 11am) which suited the teenagers who inevitably had late nights. The reception staff were friendly and courteous, but some of the other staff seemed less so. We are all very active, so didn't mind walking to and from the city centre (direct road, about 20 minutes). However, a tube station is only a couple of minutes away and this was used on occasions to get us into town and back. Coming from the airport, we took the bus and underground so have no experience of taxis or minibuses in Prague. We did go on what we originally thought was an officially organised beer walk but now feel we were hijacked by someone who did his own version of the tour. It took us into some dodgy bars! The 'guide' who was from the USA claimed he was working as a minder for a bass guitar player who has no arms, but even if he was not genuine, we enjoyed our meal and drinks with him nonetheless! Do take in a classical concert - we chose a small-scale one in a church, where the acoustics were as fantastic as the quality of the (chamber) music played. The 3 teenagers (all active musicians in a heavier and more modern genre) were very moved as were we. Eating out can be very cheap - seek out local eateries en route to the centre. Some of the restaurants and bars in St Wenceslas Square are unfriendly and expensive. We found a great wee back-street bar near the hotel where we got friendly with some of the locals - so much more fun than simply being a tourist. All-in-all, really good value for money and a fine base for your stay in Prague. Clean rooms, efficient service and good breakfasts made this ideal for us as we wanted budget, but good quality accommodation.
