"Quiet, old world charm, great food"
I stayed two weeks at the Savoy, and two weeks at the Innere Enge hotels in July, 2006. Both are very good choices, but for different reasons. I spent the first two weeks at Innere Enge which has a beautiful location with great views in the evening from the terrace over the city, and when it's clear, to the Alps. It has two restaurants, a (less formal) grill & bbq on the terrace with salad bar and menu choices from brats to fish, chicken, ribs and filet mignon. The other restaurant is partly inside, partly outside, and more upscale. The herb-crusted lamb tenderloin was fabulous both times I tried it, certainly worth going over my expense budget ! September thru May there's free admission to Marian's Jazz Bar in the hotel. The Savoy has maybe the best location downtown, a quick walk to the main train/bus station (1 minute) , next door to a Coop store, air-conditioning in most rooms (quite hot while I was there, which was the reason I moved - though some rooms do at Innere Enge). It has a cafe, but not much in the way of food. But why should they bother with more when there are literally scores of restaurants choices nearby?
