"Over all, we were very pleased with the Intercontinental."
My family and I stayed at the Intercontinental for 5 days. Although the hotel caters primarily to business travelers, it has enough going for it to suite families as well. Located 5 minutes from everything the location is great (10 minutes from Logan Airport). The fitness facility was great and the kids loved having use of the indoor swimming pool (not many city hotels offer a pool). Our only complaint was the lack of a taxi stand. Trying to get a cab during busier times took twenty minutes. Over all, we were very pleased with the Intercontinental.

"Very pleasant stay"
Quite comfortable beds, very nice and clean bathrooms with deep tub and walk in shower, very attentive service by staff, all of which were much appreciated on our short one night weekend stay. As a jaded traveler I felt they deserved me taking the time to commend them on a well-managed property. Can't comment on food and parking was Boston-priced at $39, but I really appreciated the staff. Well done.

"Nice Hotel"
After discovering that we could get a good deal on the new InterContinental in Boston on Priceline my boyfriend and I decided to check it out for a weekend trip. I was a little concerned that the location would be a bit far from everything but it turned out to be very convenient- just 2 blocks from South Station and a fine walk to Boyleston or Park St. The Silver Line makes it very convenient to the airport too. It was interesting to explore the area across Fort Point Channel that has the new ICA and the Children's Museum. We were hoping to get a room that didn't face the fire station so at check-in we said, "if you have anything available with a view, that would be great, and they upgraded us to a Harbor view room! The room had great decor and was very comfortable. The bathroom was huge and had great water pressure. I really liked the lighted wall panels and the reading lights next to the bed. As several other people have commented, the window between the bathroom and bedroom was an interesting feature. It is fantastic for a single traveler or a couple who doesn't mind bodily functions. Not good if you want more privacy in the bathroom. We didn't spend much time at the hotel but the lobby, RumBa, and the Miel restaurant looked nice.

"more remarkable than the design was the hotel's exceptional staff"
Every aspect of this hotel should be used as a model for hotel management. The overall appearance of the hotel, inside and out, was immaculate. My girlfriend and I stayed in a King Deluxe room that far exceeded any expectations we might have had for a "Deluxe" room with amazing upgrades in making a guest's stay as comfortable yet luxurious as possible considering the rate(the television, the doorbell in place of knocking, the lighting, bathroom layout and design, etc.). The only thing more remarkable than the design was the hotel's exceptional staff . To specify a few: Kristen, the taller gentleman she was working with on the 3 -11 shift, and the female Area Guide attendant working at the time were all very friendly and made us feel at home. Greg, the luggage handler , was especially helpful in seeing us to our room with great courtesy and enhancing the check in process. Even the valet attendant who welcomed us at the driveway was exceptional. We could really not rave about this hotel and its excellence enough. The mentioned staff (along with the remainder that we did not have the fortune of meeting ) and the hotel itself deserves infinite praise. If this is how it operates before its Grand Opening, I can't wait to see it in full swing . We didn't want to leave . This was by far the best hotel that I have ever stayed at, and expect to see for a long time .

"A New Standard For The Chain"
As stated before the hotel has just opened. Beautiful and clean is the theme at this new high rise hotel. Modern big rooms with all the luxury you would need. The spa and pool were great also. The hotel restaurant and bar serves creative fare in a great atmosphere, however the service is not yet at full speed. The hotel was close to a lot of great stuff as well.

"Christmas Time in Boston"
My friend and I just spent 12/16-12/17 at the new InterContinental Boston. I must say that this is a fine hotel! My friend used points so we were able to spend the night for free. We attended the Rockettes Christmas Show at the former Wang Center (now named after ANOTHER bank.......). We spent the day shopping at the Prudential Shops and Copley Place and ate lunch at my very favorite restaurant, Legal Sea Foods. We even had makeovers in Saks- thanks Ron! The weather was wonderful. We have had an unseasonably warm autumn and it was in the upper 50's. It was nice not having to wear & carry heavy winter coats. But, wait a minute and the weather changes in New England. Next year, this same weekend could be a blizzard!!! We sure lucked out with this weather. We arrived for check-in about 5 pm after a wonderful day spent Christmas shopping. We were met out front by a doorman and my friend's car was taken by the valet. We were checked in by Carl at the front desk. He was very efficient and friendly. The lobby is beautiful. Very understated. As we only had overnight bags, we took ourselves up to our room. I have to admit that our expectations were high seeing that the hotel is brand new. The grand opening is not until March 2007 but the hotel is up and running now. The room was VERY nice. Not huge but definitely not small. We had 2 double beds made with Frette linens and down comforters. The room was very nicely furnished. Plenty of lights The closet is somewhat small and it contains an iron, ironing board and digital safe. There is a small, sensored refrigerator filled with the usual mini-bar items. Don't touch a thing unless you want to pay for it!!!! And the bathroom!!! Marble floor and walls and a huge soaking tub with a separate glass shower. The first thing I did was fill up the tub and take a bubble bath! The bathroom was much larger than the usual hotel bath. The vanity was room and well lit with a beautiful granite counter-top. The toiletries were very nice and not the usual generic type. The wonderfully soft & silky towels were Frette. There was a nice hairdryer. Before going out we called room service for some cheese, crackers and fruit. There was no menu in the room so I was asked what I wanted and the room-service person made suggestions. He said he good get us whatever we wanted. It promptly arrived exactly when they said it would. It was a nice spread of artisinal cheeses, rustic breads, crackers and a delicious pear/raisin chutney. The fruit plate was not an item on the menu but they served us a huge platter of sliced melons, fresh pineapple, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and blackberries. It was fresh and delicious. Rather than the hassle of driving and finding a parking place, we took a cab to & from the Wang Center. It was only $6 each way. After returning from the Rockettes show, we had a light meal- soup- in the 24 hr. restaurant, Miel. The menu looked good and the restaurant overlooks the Waterfront. We then went to the Rumba Bar which is attached to Miel. It was very crowded and we couldn't get seats in there. After getting our drinks, the signature drink Rumbullion, we sat in a grouping of chairs in the lobby area just outside of Rumba. We felt that they could have made the seating area in the Rumba larger to accomodate a few more people. But it actually was much quieter where we sat and we were able to enjoy our drinks there. Housekeeping had come and turned down our beds and left a chocolates. They also took our used towels and put out new, clean ones. Nice touch. In the morning, we went down to the fitness center. Very nice! All new, up-to-date equipment. We did not use the spa or the pool. The attendant was VERY pleasant and helpful. I wish I had asked him his name-I would like to pass along to the management how professional and courteous he was. The fitness center will look out onto future (ya think???) "green" space freed up from the Big Dig. Right now it is still the never ending re-building of downtown Boston. Plenty of bottled water, towels. Very nice place except that it was much to WARM in there for me. I like it cooler in my work-out space. But that is just my personal preference. Carl was once again at the desk when we checked out. I hope he had gone home to sleep!!! A bell-man took us to the parking garage to pick up the car, which was already waiting for us. Parking was $39 but that unfortunately is the going rate in Boston these days. Be prepared to pay LOTS of $$$ for any parking in Boston. I actually took the train in from Worcester which is the best bargain. $12 round trip. My friends lives in NH and there is no train service from there. When possible, public transportation is the way to go in Boston. And then it was time to go home! All in all, it was a wonderful weekend. Every employee that we met was friendly, courteous and had a smile on their face. I get to go back in mid-January when my husband has a weekend conference at the Sheraton Boston. If the weather is decent I will hit Newbury Street and maybe Filenes Basement. I have traveled extensively and Boston still remains my favorite city. I have lived within 45 minutes of Boston my whole life and it still is exciting to spend time there.
