"Excellent, well run, Business luxury hotel."
This hotel is geared towards the business traveller on a substantial expense account and would therefore account for the slightly clinical atmosphere. However, this did not detract from a very comfortable and flawless stay.
The Reception area is tiny, fortunately we had booked a Club Room and as such were steered towards a much more personal check-in desk in the Club Lounge. The welcome was friendly and efficient which was reflected throughout our stay by all the Intercontinental staff.
If there was one criticism, the room we were allocated, whilst clean, with all the essential amenities, was smaller than we had expected. It was facing the noisy main road but the sound insulation was extremely efficient.
The double bed was in fact two twins pushed together - even the duvets were single! The beds were very comfortable.
Breakfast was slightly better than the standard fare but not exceptional.
In conclusion, it is hard to criticise the hotel but when we return to Madrid we will seek out somewhere, located closer to the centre of Madrid, which has more atmosphere and character.

"Good Service"
We stay at the Intercontinental regularly on work trips and always lament that we are not at the Westin opposite the Prado or at the AC Mauro Santo. I have to say, however, that on our last trip we were really thrilled by the service. Everything was impeccable: restaurant reservations we had requested were done before we arrived, packages and plane tickets were waiting in our room when we got there. Check in was quick. And all was done with humor and good nature.

"Had a great stay"
The Intercontinental at Paseo de la Castellana was excellent in every respect. I had joined Intercontinental's Priority Club (at no cost) one year prior to this stay, and they placed my wife and I in a beautiful, spacious room at no additional cost. Everyone was uniformly helpful and cordial. The location was very good in the sense that it was central, within a mile from the most important sights, yet quiet at night. I would definitely stay there again.

"Lovely Business Hotel"
Stayed here for 3 nights on business. Very nice hotel, when I originally arrived I wasn't keen on the location (corner of busy junction), however, the location grew on me.
The hotel is well located with 2 metro stops within walking distance (Ruben Dario - 5-8 mins, Gregorio Maranon - 2 mins). You are only a few stops from the centre of town.
There is also the ABC Serrano shopping complex (10 mins walk) and a Starbucks (3 mins) from the hotel. Restaurants are also not far from the hotel - 10 mins, just head towards ABC Serrano shopping and walk up the steps next to the overhead by pass.
The gym in the hotel is small but does the job.
Breakfast was very nice, albeit expensive - 26 Euros. Be careful of the grates on the floor as you enter the breakfast area if wearing stillettos.....I almost broke my neck when my heel got caught!
Altogether, very nice, comfortable and exceptionally clean rooms. Free toiletries were the best I've had on a business trip and the sweets on the pillow were very nice too.
Tip - there is a very nice tapas bar around the corner (to the left of the hotel as you walk out), food portions were huge for tapas, so don't order too much initailly else you'll have loads left :-)

"Heavenly City Hotel"
Having just returned from this elegant and luxurious hotel I felt compelled to write a review to agree with all the other reviews, this really is an excellent hotel. We upgraded to a club room and can really reccomend it as the club room, service and food presentations were of a fantastic standard. We were in Madrid to watch Real Madrid and chose the hotel beacause it enabled us to walk back from the stadium. The staff could not have been more helpful with ticket information match times etc, and also recommended excellent restaurants to us. On the down side I have to agree with another reviewer that the menu in the Cafe restaurant downstairs was very limited, and the hotel is in the businees area of Madrid rather than the centre, however we never had a problem getting a taxi and they were very reasonable. You will not be dissapointed if you stay here as everything is done to make your stay extremely happy and comfortable!

"Great choice of Hotel for Madrid."
This was my third stay in the Castellana Hotel in Madrid in 2 years. I would highly recommend this hotel to any friend or family. Staff is extremely corteous, rooms are very nice, clean and comfortable.
Food is very good either at breakfast or any other meals. Tapas at the bar are nice too. On sundays, dont miss the brunch, it is simple spectacular. Although I wish it would star earlier, starts at 1:30 pm....
Good location, near to subway, buses and taxis. 10-15 minutes to airport and 5 minutes to Atocha train station.
Can find some good rates at their website, although the US$$ to euro dosent help us. Still, an excellent choice and its moeny well spent |

"Great Hotel in a Great City"
This is really a great hotel. Our room was pretty large, nicely furnished and very clean.
The staff at the executive floor was terrific and very helpful...we did not stay at the executive floor, but could use their top service.
Yes, the location is in a business area, however, it's a very nice area. In walking distance to the ABC Serrano shopping center. The Metro is not far, the "Madrid Vision" bus stops nearby. Taxis are not expensive.
This may be the best hotel we ever stayed...we generally stay at Westin or Hilton. I would go back to Madrid and this hotel anytime.

"Very elegant hotel"
The Castellana Intercontinental is a very elegant hotel in a very elegant area in an elegant city. I was here for three nights and had a really enjoyable stay. It was a splendid room with large bathroom and separate toilet. There was also a balcony overlooking the restaurant/café courtyard below.
Breakfasts were good, although there was perhaps not quite as much choice as some Intercontinental hotels I have stayed in. The staff are very helpful and polite. My only criticism is the cost of food and drink, which was expensive even for a hotel of this quality. However there are a number of excellent restaurants within walking distance. Try La Brasserie de Lista and Jose Luis (also good for tapas) both on Calle de Serrano. I do not really agree with other reviewers who said that the hotel was away from the action. There is a metro station within a few hundred metres and a lot of good shopping within a short walk. Taxis are cheap and plentiful.
