Hotel Information
Enjoy the first class treatment...
With its elegant stone exterior, this 20-story high-rise is a standout in the upscale Jardim Paulista neighborhood, which boasts high-end shops, museums, tony apartment buildings, cafes and restaurants that will delight any gastronomic palate. This hotel opened in 1996 and has been a top player ever since, competing heads-on with the best hotels in town.
An ample driveway loops around a bubbling fountain and gives access to a serene yet impressive marble lobby appointed in art-deco style, accented with pale colors, brass and glass. Unlike some competitors that have multiple entrances, this is the only place where guests and the public can get into the building, a feature that provides added security. Decor mixes traditional furniture and antiques, bouquets of fresh flowers and a sweeping staircase.
* The medium-sized pool is nicely landscaped, and the adjoining Bar Aquarela serves light fare during high season. The pool area, strategically placed to receive sun all day, is surrounded by plants. The independently operated City Athletic Club is a boon for active guests. It offers hair styling, sauna, massages, and a small but adequate amount of gym equipment in a comfortable atmosphere.
* The events space allows 500 people to meet in 10 rooms of various sizes. The largest room, Di Cavalcanti, has seating for 300. Each conference room is fully equipped with high-speed Internet access and presentation equipment for various media. Contrasting to the sterile conference centers in many of the hotels, and to the InterContinental's credit, the meeting rooms here are tastefully decorated, inviting and comfortable. Like the entrance to the building, inside there is only one way to reach the events area, a feature that appeals to organizers who are concerned about security. For this reason, Brazilian President Lula twice made his election-night victory speech at the InterContinental.
