"great location"
This hotel had a great location as most sight seeing things were able to be done by foot or from Grand central Terminal ( 5 mins walk) Rooms were reasonably large and clean but bathrooms tiny although functionable.
Front desk staff very offhand but we found that was the New York manner generally. Locals were more helpful when we had problems with Metro tickets.
The lobby area was very impressive with lovely sofas and terrific lily floral arrangements . Never ate in the restaurants as the water in the mini bar was $7 yet only $1 in the Duane Reade across the road !!!!
We would use this hotel again because of its fantastic location but prepare yourself for dining out and use of the local delis !

"Wonderful stay at the InterContinental"
The InterContinental hotel was very nice. The rooms were very clean and beautifully decorated. The hotel staff was courteous, answering all our questions and addressing all our concerns. We had a concern about the hotel being on such a busy street that it may be loud, so they put us on one of the top floors on the quite side of the hotel. Unfortunately the hotel is not in a great spot to hop on and off the subway, but we didn't mind walking 4 or more blocks to enter the subway. We had a great weekend in New York, made even better with our stay at the InterContinental.

"What a lovely hotel!"
I was lucky enough to spend one night here and wish it could have been more. The front desk staff couldn't have been more helpful and wanted to make sure that if I had any questions, they were answered. Beautiful lobby area. The room on the top floor was furnished in understated elegance with every possible amenity. It was a sweltering 100 degree day in New York and the a/c worked like a charm. Immaculate room, corridors and lobby. They even had a bottle of water and fresh fruit waiting for me in my room. I'd stay again in a second.

"Beautiful and convenient!"
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Barclay for 4 nights last weekend (Aug 9-13). We had a great time and this is a beautiful hotel! The beds were amazing, especially the pillows! Most hotels beds are very hard with flat pillows but not here! The shower had unbelievable water pressure, and the bathroom was a good size. The only negatives I found were that we did not get a couple of channels on the TV (minor since you're never in the room anyway) and the room was a little on the small side compared to hotels elsewhere (but this is NYC, all of the rooms are small). We stayed in a king deluxe room and it was enough space for the two of us. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Checking in and out was very quick. I would definitely stay in this hotel again!
