Grand Hotel Veliko Turnovo, designed by the famous Bulgarian architect Nicola Nicolov, was opened for visitors in 1981. "Lucky to see the Spectacular Light Show"
I was lucky to have a room on the third floor over-looking the valley and old fortress. There is a Main Road Bridge and Railway Bridge under the back of the hotel where my room was and although there were Double Glazed windows and thick curtains, it could be noisy.
The whole place was clean and nicely decorated for Christmas. My Room was very clean a spacious and the bathroom was just as good. (The TV was not tuned in to any English speaking stations)
The restaurant was spacious with good live music and singing (In English) and I was lucky to be having dinner when the SPECTACULAR Light and Sound show occurred for about 20 minutes. (A must see experience) The service was friendly and food was good with the usually very comprehensive menu. The breakfast was a buffet style with an extensive choice.
I would stay again. Ask about the Light Show when booking, as it does not happen unless booked in advance (Cost about 600). Moreover ask again when checking in and at what time!
