"Now it's OK"
We spent a night in early August 2006. The hotel has finished its renovation.
Everything is new and clean.
Buffet breakfast is correct. (Nothing special, but....)
It is located in an offices area, so during the weekends and at night the place it is very calmed (but not dangerous).
You have a 15 minutes walk to the city center, or an alternative can be the tramway.

"Surprisingly nice modern hotel"
The Hotel International is a recently modernised hotel in the business district of Zagreb. Due to the proximity to a main tram route it is really easy to get into the historic centre from here. Being a business hotle there is FREE highspeed internet access if you provide your own ethernet cable.
The rooms were clean, spacious, modern and very good value. I had the loweest grade "Classic" room which had a comfortable bed, armchair, desk, coffee table, satellite TV (mainly German and Italian channels but including BBC world and CNN) and a minbar. The bathroom was clean, modern and well stocked with goodies... The room was airconditioned and the window opened (an unusual bonus nowadays).
The most impressive thing about the hotel was the outstanding food - good value, well cooked and drinks were not too extortionate.

"Good Transit hotel"
I was sent to the hotel by Croatia Airlines due to some flight problems and an unexpected overnite in Zagreb. I was expecting the typical bare minimum transit hotel experience, but upon arrival i noticed i was probably wrong. The exterior of the hotel and the lobby were new and modern. The room was very nice, with coffee/tea machine, LCD tv, free internet in room available if you have your own ethernet cable, nice minibar, really nice bathroom, comfortable bed. Its obvious the hotel was recently renovated. The free breakfast was nice also. The hotel is in a not so pretty part of town, meaning it seems to be an older part of town filled with the typical communist era "block" buildings, which are very ugly. Also, it seems there is not great water pressure where i was, the 6th floor. But for me the hotel filled the purpose and i would definitely stay there again. Staff was very friendly and spoke good english too.
