"pleasant enough.."
The hotel was good value and the rooms were spacious and above all clean with clean towels everyday. Staff were helpful and friendly enough. The hotel is close to Omonia Square and not far from Plaka. I would recommend this hotel but would recommend staying in Plaka foremost. Its a lovely area with the most to see and do.

"Surprisingly good for an Athens Visitor"
The Hotel Ionis is a pleasant surprise, after the last hotel I stayed in in Athens. The hotel is close to Omonia, with shopping and the Metro only a few blocks away. It is also just down the street from a very nice Internet Cafe. Neighborhhood isn't the best, but it's not too scary. The rooms are of adequate size, and the beds and sheets are comfortable. The hotel is quiet. Although the decor is not spectacular, everything is clean. Elevators are small but fast, and elevator lobby is big. Bathrooms are acceptable, with bathtub and shower sprayer. Hot water was a bit erratic at times, but never ran out. Views from the room are nothing special (I saw balconies with clotheslines), but no different than most city streets in Athens. Breakfast area on mezzanine has plenty of space, and food choices are acceptable and palatable. Desk staff is helpful and courteous, and understands English. This hotel certainly deserves its three stars, and I wouldn't mind staying at the Hotel Ionis again.
