"We enjoyed our stay at the Katane Palace"
Have just returned from Catania and stayed at the Katane Palace for 10 nights .There were a party of four of us.
The location of the hotel is probably not for everyone since it is slap bang in the cityand the traffic is dreadful so are the drivers!!! however once inside a warm reception awaits from a helpful and friendly staff.
This is a very well run Hotel and is immaculate.
The rooms are very comfortable and well kept.
It boasts one of the finest restaurants in Sicily.
I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel.

"Helpful staff"
Helpful front desk staff made my stay enjoyable - Salvo and Lucia went out of their way to arrange for massage and recomend terrific restaurants in Catania - nice continental breakfast and free internet made this a comfortable home away from home right in this big city. Free beverages in the room refrigerator and effecient air condtioning with lots of hot water in the clean and large bathrooms - hotel is clean and daily maid service was top notch - would stay here again.

"Great place to stay!"
Three of us stayed 3 nights (2 rooms) and two more joined us for one night (1 room) at the Katane Palace in mid-October, 2006. This was our best hotel stay during our 30 days in Italy! The hotel is located within walking distance of shopping and local sights. The rooms were quiet and tastefully appointed, the bathroom facilities all worked fine, and the staff could not have been nicer. Internet was available for a small hourly fee with a great connection. The restaurant, professionally and elegantly managed, offers unique creations made from local products - everything tasted wonderful! The food was so good we had dinner there twice!
If you arrive by plane, taxis are available at the airport, but if you come in by train you may have a hard time finding a cab outside of the station. We ended up taking an "unofficial cab" simply because we couldn't find an official taxi anywhere. It's not recommended, especially if you're traveling alone, but we got to the hotel safely.
We tried to do laundry on Sunday - don't make the same mistake. I certainly don't recommend the Stiro Blu self service laundry on Via Martino Cilestri! The attendent helped us start the washers, then half an hour later, she said she was closing and kicked us out of the laundromat before the washers were finished. We had to go back early the next morning (a 15 minute hustle each way) and finish up before our tour van arrived. I have to say though that the attendant was the only unfriendly person we met in all of Sicily.
TIP: If you need directions, stop in a grocery store with your street map, buy some gum or something useful and politely ask other people waiting in line for help. It can start quite a friendly discussion.
