"Nice place to stay"
Very nice hotel with a great environment. Was able to upgrade to a suite that was on special which turned out to be a very spacious room. If you like peace and quiet, request a room in the interior where it's like its own village inside.

"World-class service"
My wife and I stayed for a week over Christmas and came back for two nights after a New Year break in Cartagena. The hotel is in "North" Bogota, one of the safer and more upmarket areas of the city. It is well-placed beside main roads going North-South and East-West, and has one of the largest and newest shopping centres and supermarkets (Unicentro and Exito) in the city just across the road. The hotel is 6-storey redbrick arranged around paved internal courtyards (one with a little white chapel) which give a welcome feeling of tranquillity and quietness in a busy city (though outside rooms might be a bit noisy: ask for an internal room). There was plenty of security and an excellent service of dedicated taxis available at all times, which will wait for you at your destination for a pittance by European standards. The great delight was the quality of service. I am used to the high standards of service in Japan but this equalled if not surpassed it. Staff managed the rare combination of great efficiency and genuine warmth. They always gave their names and seemed genuinely empowered to respond to guest requests personally. Nothing was a problem. We felt a real focus on the guests rather than on the system or the rules. Despite the size of the hotel, our faces and preferences (for example at the excellent breakfast buffet and in the bar) were remembered within a couple of days. Requests from the room usually got a response within a couple of minutes, and we were several times caught out by the speed of response (e.g. phoning 20 minutes ahead of check-out to have our bags taken down and having a bell-boy with us in two). On our return, we were upgraded to a suite at no extra cost. I cannot recommend this hotel too highly. I will certainly stay again, with pleasure, as a home from home.
