"Beautiful!" Great hotel overall. The decor is beautiful, and the whole hotel is spotless. The rooms and bathrooms are fairly big, compared to the other rooms we had in Italy. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. The hotel isn't right in the middle of the main tourist attractions, but we really liked that. It's not a far walk to the Duomo, or anywhere else in Florence, for that matter. I would recommend this hotel to others, and I would stay here again.

"Very Impressed - So quiet!" We recently stayed at La Fortezza in mid-May, on our first trip to Europe! We did not use a travel agent to plan, simply "winged it" in choosing hotels for our trip by using reviews here and elsewhere. Had no problem with the hotel honoring our quoted price at time of check-out. Our room was on the first floor - it was adequate, not large, but definitely enough for us, as we didn't spend much time there except to sleep! Florence is a small enough city that you can pretty much walk anywhere you want, so we didn't find the location a problem at all. It is close enough to the train station that you really don't even need to take a taxi from there to the hotel...maybe a ten minute walk. It is a very nice residential neighborhood, safe and QUIET! We also weren't too excited about breakfast - later spent time at a hotel in Rome where the breakfast was much better, but we also paid more for our hotel in Rome, so I have to say that you get what you pay for! All in all, my husband and I would recommend this hotel to our family members, and we'd stay there again in the future!
