LOCATION

La Gioconda Hotel is in an excellent position for a 3-star hotel in Florence to visit the city on foot: at number 2, Via Panzani, a ZTL street (limited traffic zone) that connects the train station of Santa Maria Novella to the Duomo, the hotel is a 2-minute walk from the Duomo, from Santa Maria del Fiore and from the Church of Santa Maria Novella, at 7 minute from Piazza della Signoria and Galleria degli Uffizi and in proximity to all the most famous palaces, museums and monuments of Florence.

The shopping streets are very close by: the elegant Via de Tornabuoni is 200 meters away, and Borgo San Lorenzo, with the covered market and its very animated stands is only 5 minutes on foot.

Even arriving and departing from Hotel La Gioconda is very simple: the train station Santa Maria Novella is at 300 meters and so is the terminal of the bus shuttle going to and from the airport of Florence "Amerigo Vespucci". For those that want to visit the city by using public transport, the stop for all the buses that going to the center is only 100 meters from Hotel La Gioconda.

"Positive Experience"
We stayed here in May and found the hotel clean and comfortable with friendly staff. Our room was spacious and airy, well decorated in a simple tasteful style with a well appointed bathroom. Shutters and double glazing kept the noise to a minimum, with air conditioning provided to make the room comfortable in hot weather, but expect a little traffic noise , this is the centre of a busy city. The location was a mere 10 minutes from the Duomo and and the station making it an ideal place to stay whilst doing the sites in Florence. Expect a well served simple continental breakfast to start the day. There is no lift at the hotel however neither is there one at the cupola or the canpanile. This may be a consideration for the less agile. Ideal simple accommodation for those who like to be out and about.

In May I stayed with my family at hotel La Gioconda and last week-end I went there again with some friends. The owner, a young lady, is always so kind and helpful. She organized a nice trip in the countryside for us and gave us many suggestions for shopping.

This is a great hotel which is very affordable. It is centrally located, and is one block away from the Major Duomo. Many other sites are very close to this hotel. The rooms are clean and bright, the bathroom is modern and has a full sized bathtub. All the people who work here are very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again. I had a great experience here. In addition to the hotel accomodations, La Gioconda also boasts some very special history. The famour Mona Lisa painting which was stolen from the Louvre Museum in the late 1800s was discovered in this hotel and returned to the Louvre in 1913. I will be making my reservations to stay here again very soon.
