"elegant"
lovely place - I dont get the reviews. We spent four days there in August and really enjoyed it. It is not for those who are looking to save, you must upgrade to a suite to be comfortable here, and the rooms even then are not fancy- especially the bathrooms which need refurbishing. The rest of the facility is very nice, and the staff is great. Many of the other hotels in Santa Fe are very commercial with a lot of conventions, this is a nice refuge.

"Don't understand the comlaints"
After booking five nights in this hotel I read some of the negative reviews and almost switched...but was glad I didn't. This is a very historic hotel with the drawbacks associated with such a property...older rooms and facilities...but our classic king room was spacious and clean with plentiful amenities and in room Starbucks coffee...although you should be aware that a local water regulatation requires hotels to change sheets only once every four days during a continuous stay. (Of course they are changed at checkout as well.) The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful...from suggesting places to visit, to preparing us a late night meal in the bar when we returned chilled and damp from a rained-on local fiesta ceremony... The woman usually on duty in the gift shop was particularly helpful...the shop also has a great collection of books on the local history. I, in particular, am intriqued by the intrique surrounding the Los Alamos Manhattan Project in WW II...another advantage is that it is close to the Plaza but far enough from it not to be affected by the many special events that limit acess to some of the hotels on the Plaza. We were enjoying a cocktail at one of the elegant Inns adjacent to the Plaza the night of the Burning of Zozoba, when an irate guest left in a huff after expressing her anger at not being able to get near the hotel with her car and baggage under, she said, "threat of arrest."

"Fabulous Hotel with Outstanding Service"
We had a wonderful time here over the 3 days of our visit. I was a little nerous about staying here after I read some of the reviews on this site. It is relatively expensive which added to my nervousness. When we arrived I was not happy with our room and the hotel was sold out which left the staff few options. That is when we started to experience the outstand service La Posada's superb staff provides. While the front desk worked hard to meet our requests, they invited us to have a complimentary glass of wine in the bar. By the time we were done arrangements to meet our needs. The bellman/valet that helped us was the friendliest and nicest that I ever had and greeted us by name throughout our stay that made us really feel at home. All of the staff was friendly and outstanding, the General Manager here has really done a great job. The facility is beautiful and the location superb. I travel very heavily and this was among my best hotel stays. I would definitely come back again.
