"Perfect Balloon Fiesta Hotel!"
We just completed a four-night stay at the La Quinta Inn North in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the International Balloon Fiesta.
This hotel has a perfect location, right off the I-25 freeway - literally a few miles from the park entrances. They did not supply a shuttle this year, so check ahead for future plans, if this is your intent. The location was virtually traffic-free and no hassle from this routing to the park.
The facility was clean, comfortable, and attractive. Rooms were well-maintained with everything in working order. The shower had nice hot water and full water pressure. They have coffee and an ironing board/iron in the rooms. The king bed had a very firm mattress. No lingering smoke odors anywhere. There were plenty of parking spaces available.
A wide variety of restaurants are very close (though not walking distance), including the Cracker Barrel, which is directly across the street and is walkable, though you have to cross a major thoroughfare.
We were upgraded to a suite, as I had requested a ground floor months prior, and there were none available (there is no elevator). The staff were very accomodating and friendly. The breakfast, though meager, is fresh and adequate for starting your morning. There is a coffee shop on the hotel premises, if bacon and eggs are more your style.
They also offer free passes to a local gym, as there is no gym at the facility.
If you go to the balloon fiesta, buy your tickets online to save some time in lines at the peak hours. Gate 16 is the perfect spot, which is easy to find from the hotel. Check out the fiesta map first!! Also, bring layered clothing, as it is quite cold in the very early morning (4 AM on).
We would most certainly stay here again.
