Lady Hamilton Hotel is named after the famous naval hero Lord Nelson’s beloved and beautiful mistress, Lady Emma Hamilton. This listed historical building has been around since 1470, at which time it was divided into three separate houses. These were eventually purchased by the merchant Lorens Erdtman, who converted them into a single spacious home for himself. ""Well from the 1300s""In 1975 the building was bought by Majlis and Gunnar Bengtsson, who refurbished the property and transformed it into a hotel. At the basement level we have something of a cultural treasure - an old well dating back to the 1300s! It was here that many residents of the Old Town fetched their water in those days. Today the well is used by the guests for taking a cool dip.

"A real gem"
A real "hôtel de charme". Very nicely decorated: a little navy-museum of the period of Lady Hamilton and Lord Nelson. Excellent situation: only minutes from the central railway station and the main attractions of the old town. Well furnished breakfast. Very friendly service. Sure: I will definitely go back there on my next trip to Stockholm

Charming room, fantastic location and excellent service. The folk on reception were helpful and friendly. They were very good at catering to specific requests of all sorts, had fantastically good recommendations and advice.

Just returned from a two night stay at this charming hotel. The single rooms are tiny but cozy and comfortable. Because I was traveling alone, I received a complimentary "lady's basket" filled with facial cream and masque, snacks and chocolate, and other amenities. I was also provided with a warm bathrobe and slippers. The staff were so helpful and the breakfast was delicious though not included in the room price. The hotel is steps from the major pedestrian shopping street in Old Town and is easily accessible to other parts of the city. I would stay there again if I'm every in Stockholm.

"Lovely hotel for a memorable trip"
The Lady Hamilton was a wonderful hotel. We had a terrific, if eventful, trip to Stockholm last week. I was traveling with my 83 year old parents and my 3 year old daughter. My Father had a severe injury to his arm on the way to the hotel and we needed to seek medical attention in a strange city. The front desk person was incredibly nice and rose to the occassion, finding us the right place to go and arranging a taxi for us. The rest of the staff took great care of my Mother while she had to entertain and feed my daughter while we were at the hospital. Everyone was incredibly gracious and friendly and went out of their way to provide great service--something that is often missing from the hotel or restaraunt experience in Sweden. Injury notwithstanding, we went on to have a wonderful trip. The hotel is charming and intimate with an incredible collection of antiques. Of particular interest to my daughter was the nice collection of antique rocking horses. The sauna with 300 year old well for a dipping pool is also very much worth a visit. One cautionary word--the Storkyrkan is right next door and the bells do ring every quarter hour. Just make sure you are tired from sightseeing and you should sleep right through!
