Bunyonyi Overland Resort is ecologically built, with local materials. It is locally owned and provides important employment opportunities for the people around the lake.
Lake Bunyonyi has no bilharzia, no crocodiles, no hippos, and due to its altitude malaria is rather scarce - you could hardly find a friendlier body of water on our continent.
The name Bunyonyi means "the place of little birds", and it definitely deserves such a name!
Kabale is situated about 410 kilometres south-west of Kampala. After you cross the equator you drive through Masaka and later Mbarara on a good tarmac road. There is plenty of public transport (buses and minivans) that travel this route daily in both directions.

10 safari tents are mounted on raised platforms each with it's own terrace, and wonderful views out over Lake Bunyonyi. The tent is furnished with twin beds, electric lighting, 2 directors chairs, a writing table and a hammock for your comfort. This accommodation uses our shared bathroom and toilet facilities. The safari tents are very popular with visitors so be sure to book early.
* Cottages:
Each of 12 cottages located in two terraced blocks with panoramic views up the lake offer both twin bedded and double bedded occupancy options. These rooms are very suitable for those looking single occupancy accommodation. The rooms are all self-contained with their own bathroom, toilet facilities. Each room has a small private terrace to relax, read your book and enjoy a sundowner drink at the end of the day. Electric lighting and power points are provided for your comfort.
* Family Cottages:
The 2 family cottages are completely self-contained units, and fully furnished for your convienience. Satellite TV is also included in the furnishings. Each unit has a longe, two bedrooms and comfortably sleeps 4 persons. The cottages have a small terrace and lawn frontage on which to BBq or picnic.
* 4 rooms make up part of one terraced block. This accommodation is not self-contained where by guests utilse the same shared bathroom and toilet facilities of the campsite and safari tent guests. Electric lighting and power points are provided for your comfort.
