"Great food and personal saunas"
We stayed at the Sky Hotel for 3 nights over the Easter weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Lapland. The Sky Hotel is located on top of the Ounasvaara hill which has several slopes for downhill skiing as well as numerous opportunities for cross-crountry skiing, snow-shoe walking etc. The views from the rooms on the second floor are impressive, but ground floor views are blocked by cars and trees. I would definitely recommend a room on the top floor. In terms of the rooms, ours included our own sauna which is fantastic after a day sightseeing or just on the slopes. However, the rooms with saunas only have single beds that can be pushed together to make a double, but this is not very comfortable to sleep in. Also, the atmosphere is very much that of a ski resort hotel and some of the corridors appear very hostel-like. The hotel's restaurant is excellent, but unfortunately our Easter dinner was disturbed by a large and noisy group (80 people) from another hotel, and we were not warned about this by hotel staff. Nevertheless, for a location close to nature and away from the centre of Rovaniemi the Sky Hotel is very appropriate. However please note that it helps to have your own car or a rental car if staying at this hotel.
