"Highly recommend the Le Palais"
What a superb find. The Le Palais was a little gem of a hotel. As there are so many hotels to choose from in Prague we selected the Le Palais for our stay because of the superb reviews on this website and we weren't disappointed. Location: okay, so you're not in the centre of the city but you will be walking distance from the tram stop (Lines 6 & 11) the first of which will take you across Legionnaire's bridge towards the castle in about 10 - 15 minutes. The hotel concierge can even sell you a 90 minute ticket. On our first day we walked up to the Pavlova Metro station in about 10 minutes and bought our entire supply of public transport tickets then (a little tip - they sell tickets for 1, 3 or 5 days but as we stayed for 2 days we didn't want to waste a day so we each bought 2 one day tickets as they only become valid once you've stamped them on the tram etc.) Because you are not in the centre of town it's a lovely peaceful location - I have never before stayed in a popular city and had absolutely no disturbance from outside the window! Staff and cleanliness: Very high standard, rooms cleaned twice a day with turndown service in the evening, added nice touch that the maid will hang any clothes that you've left lying about! All the staff were extremely friendly we lost count of the times we had to say goodmorning each day. Meals etc.: Breakfast (included) was perfectly adequate - typically continental. Bar prices were slightly high but acceptable, bar was open 24 hours! Small, but again acceptable, in room "wet" bar (ie. included in room rate) was a nice touch. We didn't use the restaurant for evening meals as we wanted to go out and about to eat and we found 2 really nice places just a few minutes walk from the hotel. The first was back towards the tram stop but turn right as you reach the main road into Bruselska. L'Ardoise was a lovely restaurant / bar on ther left hand side, 2 of us ate a 3 course meal, with drinks, for about 40 euros. The second was the Pizzeria almost opposite L'Ardoise which was packed full of locals - always a good sign in my mind. We were slightly dubious about Prague before we went as we thought it would be full of English Stag and Hen parties but were pleasantly surprised at how clean and tidy the place was. Don't eat or drink at the main squares and you'll save yourself plenty too!

"deseves all the high ratings"
We've just returned after staying five nights here and we loved it.Took a previous Trip advisor's advice and booked a taxi withPrague Airport Taxis (43 eur each way )and they were excellent. We arrived quite late and were shown around hotel and our room. The bed and pillows are so comfortable that between that and blackout blinds (electric) it's hard to get up in the morning!Breakfast we thought was excellent, and freshly cooked as well as the buffet with smoked salmon and cheese brought to your table. We did eat twice in the restuarant and it was very good, but quite expensive and there are so many good eating places in Prague town. When it comes to location of the hotel it is a bit from the centre(20 mins to start of main street and then about 30 mins to jewish quarter, charles bridge etc)but we're both nearly 60 and we found it easy enough.Taxis are expensive, but the concierge told us the max we should pay from each area.We only used one once when it rained heavily. We never tried the Metro or Trams. We took an old classic car ride around the centre (1969 skoda sport)and that lasted about an hour and was very informative. They sit behind the old square behind the clock and you can choose your car.We also did a short boat trip for an hour and we enjoyed , that too ,.They start from below Charles bridge.Because all the steets are cobbled it's a good idea to wear shoes with thick soles! But after all the walking it was really nice to go back and have a few drinks in the luxury of the bar and it 's such a quiet area there's no street noise.I really can't think of anything negative about the hotel and would definately stay here again if we went back to Prague.

"Excellant Hotel"
What a fantastic stay. My husband and I went for a romantic break and were treated like royality. Our suite was beautiful, and the attention to detail (slippers placed at the side of the bed, handmade chocolates and fruit daily, bookmark placed in my book) to name a few made all the differance . We have stayed in many 5 star hotels, all over the world and they could learn a lot from the management and staff of this hotel. Our pre booked tour around Prague was wonderful, again arranged by the hotel. We had an excellant guide well worth doing. Location was a little out of the way, if you dont fancy the walk up the hill a taxi ride was inexpencive Housekeeping was excellant ,and each each staff member was very friendly nad accomodating. The food was a good standard, we ate out and in the hotel, where again there was great attention to detail. We will be returning!

"luxurious hotel"
This hotel is certainly wonderful. Attentive staff, clean, beautiful room, complimentary minibar, extensive breakfast buffet, just tops. Even the marble floor in the bathroom was heated. Its the only place we stayed on this trip where we were greated by name every time we entered the hotel. Probably the only drawback for a tourist is that it is not right in the middle of the popular tourist stuff. But it is about three blocks from a major tram stop that includes trams #22 and 23, that Rick Steves describes as "made for tourists." So once we figured all that out, it was no big deal to get to the hotel by tram. It was about a 25 minute walk from the hotel all the way to the main old town square, but we would usually take the tram. And even though we were in Prague during a very cold time of November, the size of the crowds was still amazing. So it was really nice to go to this very quiet hotel in a quiet location. There was absolutely no traffic noise whatsoever. Also, there were some very reasonably priced restaurants in the area, about half of less the cost of the ones in the main trourist area.

"As good as promised"
I am surprised to see a couple of mediocre reviews of the Palais! I booked this Hotel for my girlfriends birthday in November having read so many positive reviews and not only did it live up to those reviews, but exceeded them. This hotel may not have the modern perfection of a Four Seasons Hotel (although the Prague Four Seasons is incredibly bland and has a lot to be desired), but it is an incredibly comfortable and old-style luxurious hotel. Most importantly however - and I cannot stress this enough - the service was EXCEPTIONAL!!! Every member of staff - from the barmen to reception to room service to the bellboys - were incredibly friendly and helpful. And not a fake, insincere friendliness - rather a genuine desire to be of assistance and make sure your stay with them was perfect. To be honest, it was this hotel that made our trip, as Prague itself was a major disappointment. Way over hyped and TOO MANY tourists - worse than Paris in that respect. And this was in November! Heaven help those visiting during the peak season! Anyway, if you are going and you long for good quality, old fashioned service - the type you thought had gone the way of the doo-doo, then I highly recommend the Hotel Le Palais...

"Just as it should be"
My wife planned the trip for my birthday and what a great suprise, the hotel was perfect , staff could not do enough for you , everything was 5* , bed you didnt want to get out of and a complimentary mini bar ( yes free mini bar ) . Hotel just far enough away from the centre of prague ( £2-3 in taxi & about a 10-15 walk , walk in the mornings and get a taxi back as it is up hill ) .
