"Really awesome"
Very nice... it was amazing how big the room was, very clean. Comfortable bed. There was a pool bar on the top floor that had amazing food! Wonderful view of the Pantheon all light up. MAGNIFICIENT. But its out of the way - but there is a shuttle that brings you downtown and back every 30 min.

"Can count on the Marriott"
We booked the Marriott in Athens, as we had stayed in their San Juan, Puerto Rico property several times and were completely satisfied.
We arrived earlier than their regular check-in time and had no problem getting our rooms. We had made several requests--non-smoking, two rooms with a connecting door, quiet location, and they were all supplied. A lot of times hotels will not confirm connecting rooms, and the Marriott was no exception. However, they told me to call the previous day to arrival and there would be no problem(which I did).
We had free Internet, continental breakfast in the AM on the same floor as our rooms, and wine late afternoon in the same breakfast room. The bathroom ammentities provided were more than are usually supplied. The rooms were large with a window ledge outside with spikes in the planter that we figured were there to discourage pigeons who nested every night.
The hotel has a shuttle bus that takes you within walking distance of the Accropolis--if you are in good shape. We were not, so took a taxi that delivered us to the beginning of the walk up to the top. However, we used the shuttle to take us to shopping in Plaka, which we enjoyed.
Our favorite restaurant was Daphne's, located in Plaka. It has had many famous people eat there and was not overated. Our table was outside with a view of the Accropolis lit up at night. Our reservations for all restaurants the 4 nights we were there were made by a very helpful Concierge, a woman whose name I neglected to write down.
We also ate at the hotel's Polynesian restaurant, which we thought was excellent.

"loved the marriot"
Our roomhad a welcome gift of cheese and red greek wine and a basket of fruits. The pool was great too with a view of the Acropolis parthenon. The best part is the Bed! it was super comfy and luxurious. The service is excellent. They have a polynesian / japanese resto which was awarded as the best ( exotic?) restaurant in greece and they were extremely proud of their jap cuisine. My tourmates however tried their maki and found the rice not of the sticky quality as we were used to (being from an asian country). She calmly told the waiter that she was disappointed and to her surprise they did not charge her for it. That was definietly a plus for service in my book. My only pet peeve is the location. You have to take a taxi to Plaka ( shopping center) and tmost taxi drivers try to overcharge you when then can.

"Fine Hotel, Inconvenient Location"
The hotel itself is excellent: very good food in all restaurants, luxury marble bath, comfy bed, competent staff, and all facilities spotless and well-maintained. However, note that some rooms have dead-end, skyless views of the other hotel wing and lower-level air conditioning system. On our check-in, only smoking rooms had Acropolis views. After the first night of a week's stay, one hour after request, we were upgraded to a room with a side street and skyline view (not Acropolis, though). TV selection limited. Nice rooftoop pool with views from the Acropolis to the sea. Biggest disappintment was the location. Virtually nothing within several blocks (no good, quiet restaurants; no bakeries; no shopping). No sidewalks on several surroundng blocks, making walking difficult and dangerous, especially the 15-minute walk to nearest Metro station. Guests have to depend on cabs or the free hotel shuttle to Syntagma Square. Unfortunately, no shuttle back to hotel after 7:30 p.m., and not after 2:30 on Sunday. Finding a cab to the hotel wasn't easy. We often chose to eat at the hotel, rather than go through transportation hassles. This hotel is a fine option if you are content being away from the city center and want to rely on cabs and the shuttle.

"We loved it!!"
We booked the Marriott for our honeymoon because of the lower price. We wanted to spend more money on the island hotels.
We were very happy with the Marriott. It was a great hotel that was very comfy. Our room overlooked the Acropolis and had a nice marble bathroom and the roof-top pool was amazing! We got breakfast with our stay and it was one of the best while we were in Greece.
The only downfall was the location, but it was worth it for the price. It is not in the prettiest neighborhood, but it is safe. We walked to the metro, which was only a 10-15 minute walk and took it all around Athens. The price was very cheap for the whole day. Plus, the hotel has a bus that will take you to and from the city...the times are not the best, but you can make it work. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay there again. If you want something that is right in all the action..this is not the place..but if you are willing to walk a little and put in some extra effort then STAY here.

"A nice surprise"
We stayed at Marriott Ledra in Athens during our summer trip to Greece. We stayed for 2 nights and can sum up our overall experience with the hotel as wonderful. We booked the hotel directly through the Marriott website and actually got a lower rate than booking it through one of those online travel websites, i.e. Expedia, Travelocity, etc.
The room we stayed in was a king sized bedroom, non-smoking. The room was huge and had plenty of room to turn around even with our 2 open luggages on the floor. The bathroom was extremely clean and was well-stocked with towels and toiletries. The linens were also clean, with plenty of pillows to spare. The breakfast buffet spread, which came with the reservation, was plentiful and more than adequate. The receptionist at the breakfast room was extremely nice, allowing us to take a fruit or two on the road for our 16-month old baby which we toted along with us on this trip.
The hotel also had tour guide operator operating at the lobby for trips to the local attractions. We booked our Cape Sounion trip this way and the bus that took us on this tour conveniently picked us up and dropped us off right at the front door of the hotel.
The hotel also has a rooftop swimming pool with a hot tub (which seems to be the norm for hotels in Athens) that has a clear view of the Acropolis. They do close the swimming pool at night at 7 or 8 PM (?) when they start serving at their rooftop restaurant.
The only negative comment I can give is the view from our room. I'm not sure about the other rooms, but the view from our room consisted of this open area where they had dumped concrete and/or building materials and the exhaust vents for their heat and/or air. Which to me was a non-issue, since we kept the curtains closed at most times anyway during our stay.
Overall, our stay at Marriott Ledra Athens was wonderful and would recommend this to any tourists travelling to Athens.
