"Milan - A really friendly city"
If you want to stay in a friendly city then Milan is for you.
We got cheap flights to Bergamo Airport and then a Zani Viaaggi coach from the Airport to Central Station in Milan. You can buy a return ticket for 11 Euros and can pick it up from Piazza Bottini on your return.
We bought a 24 hour ATM ticket for 3 Euros from Tourist Information Office at Central Station validated it and got the Subway Line 3 (Yellow) to Maciachini and then the number 52 bus which drops you off very near the Leonardo da Vinci. These tickets are valid on the subway, buses, trams and some overground trains. Good value for money as taxis are quite expensive, about 15 Euros for one from Central Station to LDV.
The hotel itself is very large but welcoming. The people on reception are very helpful particularly Matteo and they were very good at finding out various information for us particularly recommending shopping areas and how to get around and about.
The buffet breakfast was very good and you could choose from eggs, bacon, fruit, toast, croissants and cereal.
The rooms were a good size and very clean. It is designed for the business person but does also cater for the tourists.
For designer shopping the best area is Duomo where there is also a beautiful cathedral and Montenapoleone. You will be able to find Gucci, Chanel, Armani, Versace, D&G, Prada, Ralph Lauren. If you prefer something less expensive then go to Via Buenos Aires which is more like Tottenham Court Road/Oxford Street in London.
We also managed to get a day trip to Venice by train which only cost 40 Euros by train and takes about 2.75 hours on the Italia Eurostar and just over 3 hours on the IC Intercity Train.
The majority of the people in Milan are extremely helpful and friendly and of course naturally stylish. I cannot wait to go back.
